    Job Title:

    DIRECTOR OF DONOR ENGAGEMENT & DEVELOPMENT

    Job Summary:

    The Miller Art Museum, an anchor in Wisconsin's vibrant art scene for nearly 5 decades, seeks a dynamic development professional to champion its growing membership, fundraising initiatives, and development efforts.

    The ideal candidate will be an innovative development professional who can enhance the museum's strong reputation, is a passionate advocate for the visual arts, and successfully cultivates donor relationships, secures major gifts, and executes fundraising campaigns.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Fundraising Strategy: Develops and implements annual development plans, calendars, and fundraising goals in partnership with the Executive Director and Board of Directors.
    • Board Engagement: Leads strategies to engage the Board in fundraising, events, and new donor prospect cultivation.
    • Individual/Business/Corporate Support Management:
      • Manages the growth of the donor base, including stewarding existing members, securing higher-level gifts, and recruiting new members.
      • Develops and secures sponsorships for exhibitions and programming.
      • Oversees fundraising appeals (electronic and mail).
    • Maintenance of Donor Management System: Maintains complete donor files and databases.
    • Foundation and Grant Writing: Develops and manages foundation and grant applications and proposals.
    • Special Events: Collaborates on event planning and execution.
    • Integrity: Establishes policies for gift stewardship, acknowledgment, tracking, and reporting.
    • Acknowledgment: Ensures timely and appropriate gift acknowledgments per museum policy.
    • Stays informed about trends and best practices.
    • Reports regularly to the Executive Director and Board of Directors on development activities and growth.

    Requirements:

    • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, arts management, or business administration with a minimum of 3 years of professional fundraising experience.
    • Prior work or volunteer experience with a nonprofit visual arts or cultural organization/museum.
    • Passion for the visual arts and genuine interest in the Miller Art Museum's mission.

    Schedule:

    Monday – Friday with additional availability to work some evening/weekend hours.

    Salary:

    Commensurate with experience. Salary range: $50,000 - $55,000
