    Special Populations Compliance Specialist Job Description

    Prospect Ridge Academy, a public charter school in Adams 12 Five Star District, is seeking a committed and detail-oriented Special Populations Compliance Specialist to lead the school's special populations compliance efforts across the K12 school. The ideal candidate will be passionate about education, possess excellent communication skills, and enjoy compliance management. Under the general supervision of the administration, this skilled educator will support the students, families, and staff who are part of the PRA special populations program.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    IEP Coordination
    • Creates, implements, and monitors a comprehensive system for auditing special education records to ensure compliance with state and federal laws and regulations
    • Communicates new developments in special education law to staff
    • Attends and facilitates manifestation meetings
    • Leads responses to parent complaints and serves as the school liaison to the Office for Civil Rights
    • Assist with December 1 Federal and State Child Count
    • Works collaboratively with parent advocates
    • Attends IEP meetings as needed
    • Review individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with disabilities, ensuring that goals, objectives, and accommodations are appropriate and effectively implemented.
    • Serve as a liaison between the school, parents, and outside agencies to coordinate services and support for students with disabilities, including related services, transition planning, and community resources.
    504 Coordination
    • Schedule and facilitate K-12 Section 504 Plan meetings, including initial eligibility determination, annual reviews, and re-evaluations.
    • Develop and write Section 504 Plans.
    • Provide training and support to PRA staff regarding Section 504 and the implementation of the Section 504 policies and procedures.
    • Consult with students, parents, teachers, and other school staff as needed to provide assistance and guidance related to Section 504.
    • Investigate complaints in coordination with the level administrator alleging violations of Section 504/ADA and/or discrimination based on disability and assist in providing resolution in order to meet required timelines.
    • Collect and maintain accurate and compliant data and records for all students covered under Section 504.
    • Act as the main point of contact for the school for all Section 504 responsibilities and for all students covered under Section 504.
    • Stay abreast of state and federal laws, regulations, and guidelines related to disability discrimination, Section 504 and Title II of the ADA, by attending regular trainings and participating in ongoing professional development opportunities.
    • Follow and implement federal, state, and district mandates, processes, and procedures for identifying students in need of accommodations and services under Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
    • Maintain students' files with Section 504 protection and accommodation plans. Ensure that FERPA/HIPAA confidentiality requirements are met.
    Special Populations Coordination
    • Works to maintain compliance at the school level with state, federal, and local procedures
    • ?Facilitate the special populations' team meetings.
    • Work to support the overall K-12 caseloads and schedules of special populations team members
    • Provide leadership and support to special populations staff and paraprofessionals involved in delivering special services, including coaching.
    • Assist with the school's Child Find obligations.
    • All work responsibilities are subject to established performance goals and targets.
    • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
    Qualifications (or Education and Related Work Experience)
    • B.A. or B.S. college degree required, Masters preferred in Special Education
    • Teaching and/or administrator experience in a public, charter, or private setting is preferred.
    • Demonstrated knowledge of IEP and 504 Plan assessment, development, and implementation.

    Reporting Relationship
    • This position reports to the Principal
    Benefits

    Prospect Ridge Academy offers a total compensation package for employees working < 0.75 FTE, including:

    1. MEDICAL - There are three options for Medical coverage provided by United Healthcare.
    2. DENTAL - Dental insurance is provided by Delta Dental of Colorado.
    3. VISION - Vision insurance is provided by VSP.
    4. FLEXIBLE SPENDING - There are two different options for flexible spending provided by Discovery Benefits.
    5. LIFE/AD&D - You are provided 1x your annual salary (up to $100,000) as group term life insurance provided by Lincoln Financial Group.
    6. STD/LTD - PRA pays the entire cost of short- and long-term disability benefits.
    7. PERA - Administered by Colorado, PERA is a tax-deferred retirement account to which you contribute 11% of your monthly earnings. Additionally, PRA contributes 21.4% to the PERA pension trust fund on your behalf.
    8. EAP - Employee Assistance Program is provided by Lincoln Financial.
    9. PAL - Paid Annual Leave beginning immediately following the first day of work (FTE 1.0 = 10 days / 0.8 = 8 days/ 0.5 = 5 days etc.)
    10. Paid Holidays that include - 11 paid Holidays for 10 month Employees (please refer to Employee Handbook for these 11 days) and 15 paid Holidays for 12 month Employees (please refer to Employee Handbook for these 15 days.
    For Employees working >0.75 FTE, benefits will include:

    1. PERA - Administered by Colorado, PERA is a tax-deferred retirement account to which you contribute 11% of your monthly earnings. Additionally, PRA contributes 21.4% to the PERA pension trust fund on your behalf.
    2. Paid Holidays include 11 paid Holidays for 10-month Employees (please refer to the Employee Handbook for these 11 days) and 15 paid Holidays for 12-month Employees (please refer to the Employee Handbook for these 15 days).

      Salary Range: $57,000 - $85,500
      Hiring Range: $57,000 - $64,125
