The Distribution Center (DC) processes and ships products, supplies and equipment to all 95+ TPS retail locations along with servicing our DTC (Direct to consumer) customers.
The Director leads a diverse group of individual contributors and leaders to execute and improve upon operational processes including. productivity, associate culture, and the execution of strategic initiatives for the business.The perfect fit for this role is someone who works with a sense of urgency and with high attention to detail and who has the foresight to recognize and capitalize on growth and improvement opportunities (both operational and associate-based).
This leader is a change agent and seeks to understand challenges, enjoys working through every problem and teaches others to do the same by working collaboratively to reach quality solutions.
The Director of Distribution Center reports directly to the Director of Supply Chain and Logistics.COMPETENCIES:

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Be a TPS brand ambassador
Be a role model for associates to be accountable to The Paper Store's policies and procedures
Uphold and enhance The Paper Store's positive associate culture
Manage, motivate, train, develop, and coach individual contributors, supervisors, and managers.
Communicate and hold associates accountable to job expectations; plan, monitor, evaluate job contributions and ensure direct reports do the same.
Manage annual review process ensuring direct reports are communicating expectations, timelines and deliverables expected from every reviewDevelop and communicate goals and objectives for productivity and quality-control and set expectations to achieve them with strategic planning, recommendations, action plans, and execution.
Oversee and course correct Distribution Center payroll budget and expensesWork with direct reports continually to forecast labor and production needs based on inbound and outbound freight plans by week, month, and quarter
Partner with Human Resources on staffing goals, hiring, training & development, disciplinary actions, safety programs, payroll and time keeping, and associate culture
Organize and conduct "As Needed" meetings to communicate priorities, achievements, opportunities, and goals to the team members and develop department leaders to do the same
Analyze process workflow, manage space capacity and requirements, equipment layout, and implement changes frequently with the appropriate methodologies
Ensures staff members have access to the necessary tools to perform their assigned duties and that the tools are routinely accounted for and adequately maintained
Partner with leadership throughout the business to create strategic solutions and maximize productivity to meet and exceed organizational goals
Analyze KPI's and production standards to measure performance, optimize processes and resources, and drive efficiencies
Establish a cadence in which department and area leaders regularly report the state of their business, including key performance indicators, staffing and associate development, safety, inventory management, associate culture, and projects, an assessment of needs and expectations for the future.
Use WMS, reporting, and other systems to review workload, manage production expectations and goals and troubleshoot issues and train department leaders to do the sameCollaboratively work with critical business partners, in the Corporate Office, Stores, and external vendors
Manage all DC projects from conception to completion by communicating the vision and expectation, delegating assignments, establishing deadlines, and establishing a cadence of communication to measure success and modify plans as needed
Support any transitions of warehouse or future 3PL locations
Complete all other tasks assigned by management within the allotted timeframe
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
10+ years of experience in distribution and warehousing in an environment of at least 100 associates
8+ years of experience in a position of leadership, managing staff, facilities, and team development
Have a positive attitude and be self-motivated
Strong talent assessment skills and the ability to identify and develop the potential of associates at all levels
Problem solving and decision-making skills
Ability to adapt and lead a business segment through rapid growth and a changing environment
Great attention to detail
Ability to lead multiple buildings and multiple types of business units
Demonstrated understanding of managing product flows, including receipt of products, processing, storing/staging, shipping, and other functional operations
Experience with forecasting, planning, and managing a budget including staffing plans
Proficiency in Computer and database application skills, including Microsoft Office Suite and Warehouse Management Systems experience.
Strong organizational skills including prioritizing, scheduling, time management, and deadline management expectations
Demonstrated successful professional etiquette skills, both written and verbal
Scheduling flexibility to work any shift and weekends during high distribution volume periods
Ability to stand and walk for 8+ hours
Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs. and push/pull up to 75 lbs.
Professional presentation in attire, demeanor, and appearance
