The Watercraft Inspector role involves inspecting, informing, and educating the public about the risks of ecologically harmful aquatic invasive species to Minnesota's waters. Inspectors receive training on MN DNR protocols and are empowered to enforce MN State Aquatic Invasive Species (AIS) laws while conducting thorough inspections on all watercraft at Riley, Red Rock, and Mitchell Lakes in Eden Prairie, MN. They operate at public water access sites, conducting surveys and inspecting watercraft for invasive species. Other responsibilities include posting educational materials, participating in invasive species removal, and contributing to natural resource projects.

Full-Time and Part-Time Positions: May through October.

Weekday and weekend roles available.

This position is ideal for students, teachers, and individuals aged 55 and above.

Duties:

• Educate the public on the AIS program and current issues.
• Distribute literature and pamphlets.
• Inspect watercraft for invasive species (incoming and outgoing).
• Conduct verbal surveys.
• Document inspection activities.
• Maintain knowledge of best practices in watercraft inspection.

Requirements

• Experience in verbal communication and customer relations.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks professionally.
• Willingness to work flexible hours and in diverse weather conditions.
• Availability to work on weekends and holidays.
• Physical ability to walk, stand, and move around the boat launch area extensively.
