    GENERAL POSITION OVERVIEW

    Responsible for maintaining department and company standards for ocean freight contract negotiation and management thereof. Be able to respond to rate quotes on a timely basis in order to meet critical deadlines as required by our customers and potential customers. Monitor bookings and contract performance within your assigned region, observe KPI management for pricing and field sales, and make various data reports on a regular and ad hoc basis when required. Ensure service contracts are in full compliance with FMC regulations and company standards. Must be flexible with vastly changing international and local market conditions.

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/DUTIES

    • Analyze market trends and data to identify opportunities for optimizing pricing strategies
    • Gather data from a variety of sources, including market research, competitor pricing, and customer feedback, to inform pricing decisions
    • Prepare bids for specific customers or customer segments, tailoring pricing strategies to meet customer needs and preferences
    • Ensure consistency in pricing across all regions by using standardized processes and procedures
    • Provide guidance to sales on pricing strategy
    • Monitor market conditions and adjust pricing strategies as necessary to remain competitive and profitable
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    ESSENTIAL SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES

    • Understanding of regulatory and compliance requirements in the shipping industry
    • Proficient with Excel and other analytical tools
    • Strong data handling skills
    • Strong analytical skills to clarify problems and opportunities for improvement of profitability
    • Detail-oriented and organized, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
    • Knowledge of the shipping industry: Understanding of the shipping industry and related terminologies, such as freight rates, shipping lines, ports, carriers, and logistics
    • Regulatory compliance: Knowledge of regulatory and compliance requirements in the shipping industry, including international trade laws, tariffs, and customs regulations
    • Time management: Strong time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
    • Adaptability: Flexibility and adaptability to changing market conditions, customer needs, and business requirements

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

    • High School diploma or GED required; bachelor's degree in business, finance or related field preferred
    • Requires 2 years of experience in the shipping industry or related analytical field
