    Summary:

    ValidaTek is seeking Systems Engineers to support an exciting new DoD Program at Fort Meade, MD. This is a unique program to design, engineer, and deliver a modernized infrastructure to replace the current operational infrastructure that has reached end-of-life. This program will provide all engineering and related support necessary to develop a SIP (Session Initiated Protocol)-based policy engine routing solution that can ensure continuity of operations in the event of a single policy engine and/or SBC failure. Support for this effort is largely remote with occasional on-site support at Fort Meade, MD.

    Handles multiple applications, systems, network, and/or telecommunications activities. Manages information systems throughout the organization. May include programming, analysis, networking, data processing, and/or administration responsibilities. Resolves technical problems. Researches and recommends technology. Coordinates information system priorities.

    Responsibilities:
    • Responsible for maintaining the technical infrastructure as required to meet business needs with little or no supervision. This would include proactive software updates and patching as well as equipment and software refresh / maintenance.
    • Responsible for provisioning VMs in the VMWare hypervisor, networking where needed, learning Ribbon product to be able to adequately test and deploy. Support deployments from Scott AFB. Later, maintain system in O&M (Tier 2/3). Administer system updates and maintain security of system.
    • The System Engineer is also responsible for providing support and troubleshooting for incidents reported by system monitoring, change requests, users support tickets or networking with IT peers.
    Qualifications:
    • DoD Secret Clearance
    • 5+ years of experience managing federal IT network modernization work or system projects of similar scope and complexity.
    • Must have at least 3 years of systems engineering experience with Linux, in combination with Networking tools and/or VMWare
    • Experience with Ribbon/Sonus SBC highly preferred
    • Must have experience applying patches and applying change control best practices for validating production
    • Ability to design, implement and troubleshoot solutions utilizing Microsoft Windows, various browsers, internet apps and computer diagnostic tools, MicroSoft Office Suite, Google Suite, Oracle and Unix, while adhering to all security protocols within a networked environment.
    • Knowledge of and experience with relational database systems and SQL tools. Knowledge of and experience with the relationship between databases and other software and the interfaces necessary to facilitate a cohesive system.
    • Knowledge of and experience with system documentation and organization.
    • Knowledge of and experience with current technology and practices, including application and network security.
    • Knowledge and experience with personal computer hardware, including processors, motherboards, memory, hard disks, optical drives and peripherals such as scanners, cameras, printers, external hard drives, etc.
    • Strong communication skills (oral and written) and strong interpersonal and organizational skills, with a professional demeanor and strong personal ethics.
    • Strong time management skills, with the ability to take ownership and complete assigned tasks.
    • Detail oriented, with strong problem-solving skills and with the ability to anticipate and provide solutions that result in gained efficiencies in business processes and improved customer service.
    • Ability to present and explain complex technical topics, problems and alternative solutions to interested parties of varying technical backgrounds.
    • IAT Level II Certification, Security Plus (Sec+)
    • VOIP experience - highly preferred
