Description
The University of North Carolina at Charlotte invites applications and nominations for the position of the Carol Grotnes Belk Distinguished Professor in Nursing. We seek a well-rounded scholar who has demonstrated excellence in research, teaching, leadership, and interprofessional collaboration. This is a nine-month position with a competitive salary and benefits with an earliest start date of August 15, 2024.
Qualifications
The Belk professor will further the nursing research activities in areas that complement or provide depth to existing faculty expertise and that align with the foci of the programs in the School of Nursing.
The Distinguished Professor will be assigned to the School of Nursing in the College of Health and Human Services. The holder of the role will be expected to make a wide range of contributions to the educational, research,and service missionsof the University. In addition to teaching and service expectations, the successful candidatewill be expected to have an ongoing externally funded research agenda and experience mentoring junior faculty and graduate students.
Candidates must be eligible to be licensed as RN in North Carolina, have at least 2 years of nursing experience, hold a Master's degree in Nursing, and an earned doctorate in nursing or related field.
This position is at the rank of Associate or full Professor. The successful candidate must have a proven track record of securing external research funding and publications. Must possess research and leadership skills, maintain an active program of research that complements or provides depth to existing faculty expertise, and contributes to the mission of the University and the School of Nursing. The preferred candidate should also demonstrate evidence of excellent teaching and leadership abilities. Must also demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills which enable working across multiple professions to address priorityissues and funding opportunities in the research community. Must have a proven track record of mentoring students and faculty.
We are particularly interested in candidates whose research demonstrates a commitment to preparing nurse scholars who will build nursing science through a focus on holistic health, societal leadership, and transforming healthcare systems by leading interprofessional research initiatives. Successful candidates will have a record of 3-5 years teaching/mentoring experience with diverse undergraduate and graduate students and faculty. Should have experience in online teaching.
The School of Nursing
The School of Nursing offers a wide range of graduate and undergraduate degree and certificate programs to prepare graduates to pursue nurses for a variety of practice, research and administrative roles. As one academic unit within the College of Health and Human Service, the School of Nursing collaborates with the Department of Applied Physiology, Health, and Clinical Sciences, Department of Public Health Sciences, School of Social Work, and the interdisciplinary School of Data Science. The interdisciplinary Gerontology program offers both undergraduate and graduate degree options. The school has more than 60 full and part-time faculty members who are actively engaged in research and scholarship, and who bring real-world experience to their teaching and service.
