    Your Opportunity

    Our Midwest team is growing and we need an Engineer in Training to assist our team of transportation engineers and designers in delivering small, medium and large transportation projects.

    You will have the opportunity to mentor under a Senior Transportation Engineer working on projects in the Midwest Region as well as participate in design opportunities throughout North America.


    As a Civil Engineer in Training, you will assist more senior engineers/designers by performing the routine aspects of civil engineering assignments and may also assist in the analysis of proposed projects.

    You will join a dedicated group of professionals who provide support to, the Transportation and Community Development teams on projects throughout Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, and beyond.

    Your Key Responsibilities


    Perform design on roadway projects for state DOT's, counties and cities under the guidance of a Senior Engineer or Designer.

    Prepare roadway geometric layouts and final design construction plans.
    Perform CADD design of roadways incorporating NDDOT, SDDOT and MnDOT practices and procedures.
    Perform CADD design in Microstation/Geopak and/or AutoCAD Civil 3D as it relates to roadway and bridge design.
    Prepare transportation related reports including design memos and feasibility reports.
    Prepare project cost estimates.
    Prepare project specifications.
    Perform field construction inspection services.
    Perform field assistance on survey crews.
    Perform basic traffic analysis.

    Work with other engineering disciplines and professionals in the coordination of projects under the direction of a senior engineer/ designer.

    Assist with engineering duties on projects of various complexity.
    Assist with collecting data and gathering information to support design decisions.
    Assist in basic interpretation and verifying compliance with applicable codes and engineering standards and practices.
    Perform other duties as assigned by the senior engineering staff.

    Your Capabilities and Credentials

    Basic understanding of general concepts of relevant areas of civil engineering design.
    Ability to participate and collaborate in project team setting and to engage in creative and critical thought.
    Understanding of civil engineering concepts and ability to effectively communicate ideas to others.
    Ability to interpret sketches, drawings, building program and other similar material.
    Requires understanding of Microsoft Office Suite. Basic Microstation/Geopak and/or AutoCAD Civil 3D preferred.
    Developing cooperative skills in working efficiently within a team.
    Written and verbal communication skills.
    Detailed oriented, being self-motivated and working in a team environment.
    Education and Experience Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Engineering
    EIT or ability to pass the FE within 2 years.
    No professional experience required, up to 2 years of experience preferred.
    Co-op/Internship experience preferred.
