    Summary:
    The Director of Engineering will manage all activities of the Plymouth Laboratories (Technology Center and ADC) to test HVAC equipment and components, products, and systems by performing the following duties:
    Primary Accountabilities And Responsibilities

    Plans, coordinates, and executes lab strategic roadmap to align with Multi-Generational Product Plan (MGPP) and Multi-Generational Technology Plan (MGTP) with the following responsibilities:

    Directs the analysis and formulation of capital plans in alignment with MGPP/MGTP. Engineering owner of capital budgeting and planning process. Participates in the expenditure request review and approval process.


    Drives the development of testing technology strategies with the implementation of innovative solutions to data acquisition, software and test facility operation to close knowledge gaps identified in MGTP.

    Trains, attracts and maintains key skill sets in alignment with MGPP/MGTP.

    Composes and delivers C-level presentations outlining laboratory strategic vision, investments, and initiatives.

    Establishes annual department goals, initiatives, and metrics in alignment with business objectives (DAA Way).

    Facilitates process improvement identification, prioritization, and implementation.

    Ensures the department operates in coordination with other departments to meet company strategy and business plans.

    Provides leadership, conflict resolution and consensus management among laboratory employees as well as other departments.

    Evaluates and implements a balanced structure of internal and external technical resources to meet business needs and financial commitments.

    Leadership champion of Laboratory QMS and accreditations (ISO, ETL, UL, AMCA, etc).


    Active participation in the development and review of industry standards applicable to the method of test (ASHRAE, AHRI, DOE, UL, ISO, etc).

    Facilitates talent management process across the laboratory organization with the use of HR tools (e.g. Performance Management, 9-Block, Succession, etc)

    Builds and maintains talent pipelines. Participates in advocacy for technical/trades career paths.


    Composes site safety policies, establishes safety procedures, reviews work processes for ergonomic impact, maintains equipment and testing facility in accordance with OSHA standards.

    Oversees maintenance of the test lab facility and equipment. Oversees regular preventive maintenance planning and execution.

    Ownership of laboratory AOP planning and submission. Monthly management of department budget to AOP plan.

    Directly supervises 8 to 10 employees with a total organization of 100 Engineering Technicians and Engineers. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems


    Ability to work with mathematical concepts, on an engineering level, such as; probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.

    Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

    Education And Experience

    Bachelor's Degree (B.S.) in Engineering (Technical or Scientific) is required. Master's degree is highly preferred.

    Seven (7) years of experience in related field with at least three (3) years of management experience

    Experience in a multi-cultural or global environment, preferably including an international assignment, is highly desirable
