    Description

    Overview :
    We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Real Estate Tax Specialist to join our team. The candidate will have an understanding of real estate tax laws and regulations, particularly related to exemptions.

    They will be responsible for researching, identifying, and securing tax exemptions for eligible properties, ensuring compliance with all relevant laws and regulations.

    This role requires excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to effectively communicate with stakeholders and government agencies.


    Responsibilities :

    • Research and analyze local, state, and federal tax laws and regulations pertaining to real estate taxes including applicable exemptions.
    • Prepare and submit applications for tax exemptions to relevant government agencies, ensuring accuracy and compliance with all requirements.
    • Liaise with investors, partners, lenders and other stakeholders to gather necessary documentation and information for tax exemption applications.
    • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of changes in real estate tax laws and regulations, including changes affecting real estate tax exemptions, transfer tax laws and reassessments.
    • Collaborate with internal teams, including asset management, legal and finance departments, to ensure compliance with tax exemption requirements.
    • Develop and maintain relationships with County Assessors and other relevant government officials and agencies involved in real estate taxes and exemption processes.

    Qualifications :

    • Associate or Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, real estate, or a related field, or paralegal or similar training with relevant work experience.
    • Experience in real estate tax assessment, valuation, or exemption processes.
    • Knowledge of California real estate tax laws and regulations.
    • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex tax codes and regulations.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with stakeholders and government officials.
    • Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy in preparing and reviewing documentation.
    • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
    • Previous experience working with a County Assessor, Board of Equalization or government agencies is a plus.
