Position Summary:

• Collects and processes blood specimens for testing in the laboratory.
• Fills in as needed in the department.
• Functions as one of the department's primary contacts with patients.
• Assists with clerical duties.

Essential Functions:

Performs phlebotomies.Drag Edit DeletePerforms laboratory Information System functions.Drag Edit DeleteMaintains a clean work area and proper stock on supplies.Drag Edit DeleteApplies knowledge of age-related factors appropriately to patients, utilizing appropriate policies and procedures.Drag Edit DeletePerforms clerical duties.

Reports to: Phlebotomist Supervisor

Minimum Education
High school diploma or equivalent - Required.Drag Edit DeleteMinimum Education
Completion of a Phlebotomy course or equivalent training/experience or National Health career Association. Phlebotomy certification preferred.Drag Edit DeleteRequired Skills
Certifications:
Basic Life Support (BLS) - to be obtained within 30 days.Drag Edit DeleteRequired Skills
Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.Drag Edit DeleteRequired Skills
Formal phlebotomy training preferred.
