    The Medical Division is currently offering the below exciting opportunities:

  • Respiratory / Ventilation weaning - Ward 5 West
  • Austin Campus
  • Permanent Full time and Part-time hours available - 128hrs/per week
  • Ward 5 West is a 28 bed acute medical ward belonging to the Division of Medical Services. The Service consists of the following areas: Respiratory High Dependency Unit (HDU), The Victorian Respiratory Support Service (VRSS), The Ventilation Weaning Unit (VWU), Sleep Laboratory and Infectious Diseases Unit. 5 West cares for patients with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), respiratory failure, chest infections and Asthma.

    About the role:

    As an Austin Health Nurse you will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of evidence-based nursing care in designated medical specialties, in order to optimize health outcomes for the community.

    Key responsibilities will see you:

  • Support a philosophy of care, which is patient focused, from admission to discharge, and where the family is welcome in the carers team
  • Ensure the well-being and safety of patients by following the values and principles, which underpin best practice in relation to patient care, education and patient rights
  • Achieve and maintain the skills necessary, through personal professional development, to plan, prioritize and implement holistic patient care
  • About you:

    You'll further have:

  • Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia Registered Nurse registration
  • Minimum of 2 years acute clinical experience
  • Previous respiratory nursing experience
  • A commitment to quality, best practice and environmental safety
  • The ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal form
