    Job Title

    An Ophthalmic Technician plays a vital role in providing exceptional patient care to individuals during their eye exams.

    The ideal candidate will be able to handle a wide range of duties, utilizing equipment to perform initial testing necessary to prepare patients for an examination with an ophthalmologist.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Deliver outstanding customer service during every patient interaction (in-person or via phone)
    • Maintain a professional demeanor, greet patients promptly with a smile, and express gratitude upon departure
    • Prioritize patient and doctor time, adhering to schedules
    • Comply with company policies and procedures, including HIPAA guidelines
    • Verify patient information through interviews
    • Record medical history, current medications, and confirm the purpose of the visit
    • Document all data in the patient's electronic medical record
    • Assess patient eye condition by observing pupils, muscles, visual acuity, and extraocular movements
    • Familiarity with eye anatomy, diseases, symptoms, and ocular medications is essential
    • Perform general office duties and cleaning tasks as assigned by the manager
    • Reliable transportation for traveling to multiple work locations with minimal notice
    • Ability to work weekends when required
    • Desire to gain industry knowledge and training
    • Demonstrate initiative in achieving practice goals
    • Capacity to adapt and grow in a dynamic environment

    Physical Demands:

    This position requires frequent use of hands for handling, grasping, or feeling. The employee must frequently stand, walk, and sit. Lifting and moving up to 10 pounds is a regular occurrence, while lifting and moving up to 25 pounds may be required occasionally.

    Requirements:

    A high school diploma or equivalent, along with one year of related experience and/or training, or a combination of both, is necessary. Certification as a Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) or Certified Optometric Assistant (COT) is preferred.
