Overview

The Center for Immuno-Oncology (CIO) at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (DFCI) is seeking a senior research scientist to join the Tissue Biomarker Laboratory (TBL). The TBL provides pan-cancer clinical/translational correlative spatial biology studies and is an NIH-sponsored Cancer Immune Monitoring and Analysis Center. The laboratory is dedicated to the development and implementation of spatial analyses to study the tumor-immune microenvironment in biopsies from patients undergoing immunotherapy treatments. Multiplex immunofluorescence workflows include the Akoya Polaris and Lunaphore COMET platforms. The TBL research team works in conjunction with the CIO Computational Biology team on quantitative analyses to interpret these imaging datasets. The research is highly collaborative with a large number of investigators across DFCI Disease Centers and other institutions to address translational questions. Many studies seek to identify biomarkers of response or resistance to immunotherapy using spatial biology analyses. Over the past 5 years, the laboratory has contributed to more than 50 publications (see for more detail).

A qualified candidate should have a PhD in a biomedical-related discipline, such as immunology, biomedical engineering, and/or cancer biology, and 6+ years of post-doctorate experience in quantitative microscopy or computational data analysis. Experience working in teams and managing technicians is preferred. Responsibilities will include initiating and managing research projects, overseeing data collection and analysis, and working with the Principal Scientist and Faculty Director to prepare manuscripts and research proposals. Research projects will be collaborative studies involving extensive interactions with histopathology staff, research technicians, biomedical researchers, pathologists, clinicians, bioinformaticians, and data scientists.
