Position Summary
The Software Engineer (M Development) promotes DSS, Inc.'s mission by providing the highest level of quality software within a structured mature environment while providing service to both internal and external clients.
The incumbent:
will perform many development tasks using M/Cache technology within a typical day including but not limited to:
providing quick and effective solutions to problems which cannot be resolved by the product line team.
producing product enhancements and documentation,
performing product maintenance,
designing user interfaces,
creating new modules for existing products,
developing new products,
serves as a resource to render patches via VA Forum patch release system for all company National Products.
is willing to accept coaching, is willing to mentor junior-level staff members, and has the ability to remove barriers and have effective working relationships.
is willing to travel on an occasional basis (less than 25%).is responsible for written and verbal communication with clients, documentation of work activities and work processes.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Essential Duties:
Develops, builds, debugs, codes and tests various software modules.
Works on development of new features within existing products.
Works on development of new products.

Individuals working for DSS will be subject to security and privacy requirements as explained in HIPAA, FedRAMP, and NIST Additionally, they are required to undergo specific FedRAMP training to ensure compliance with all associated controls and responsibilities in the day-to-day performance of their duties.
Individuals working in departments that are considered to be in the high risk category will be required to undergo advanced training based on their role and level of access.
Individuals with access to modify data and the configuration baseline will require further training.The preceding functions are examples of the work performed by employees assigned to this job classification. Required:

5 years or more experience as a developer.
2 years or more of proven experience working with VistA integration development.
Excellent software engineering and problem-solving skills.
Excellent M/Cache design skills.
Goal oriented.
Excellent interpersonal skills along with solid organizational abilities.
Knowledge of the VistA database and business rules.
