- Alongside the Principal, support the development of the school-wide vision and take an active role in investing and mobilizing teachers to achieve the collective goals of the school; owns the implementation of select school priorities in support of the school-wide vision
- With guidance from the Principal, leads the planning and goal setting for the grades/departments that he/she coaches and ensures alignment with school-wide goals
- Set, communicate, and execute a vision for a school-wide initiative/priority that addresses an inequity
- Prioritize and manage your own time to accomplish short and long-term goals or priorities
- Demonstrate strong judgment and data-based, timely decision-making
- Act decisively to overcome barriers and make difficult choices with long-term and short-term impacts in mind
- Ensures that all students on the campus exhibit strong achievement gains
- Orchestrates non-biased, aligned, data-driven, high-quality, ongoing professional learning tuned to staff needs to maximize student learning gains and provide targeted resources and support to all teachers
- Implements the IB program with the New York-mandated Learning Standards and Testing Program
- Routinely leverages student achievement data and other data points to recommend and implement granular and school-wide changes to ensure progress toward goals
- Oversees assigned aspects of academics and coordinates with leadership on key school functions, including but not limited to report card distribution, parent-teacher conferences, family celebrations, appropriate supervision at school events, and other initiatives
- Exhibits a relentless drive to improve the outcomes for and provides strong programs to address the learning needs of the school's special education, ELL, economically disadvantaged, and other populations that require additional supports
- Alongside the school principal, sets a vision of excellence for student and staff culture, and executes plans to uphold it
- Builds a positive, affirming, and joyful student culture across teams
- Builds an inclusive grade-level, department, and school-wide environment for special populations
- Manage parts of the daily school operations, such as lunch/recess, as assigned by the Principal
- Oversees the supervision of all after-school activities, including late pickup and supervision of the musical, athletics, and clubs
- Plan for and predictably respond to student behavior that doesn't meet school culture expectations. Coach, support, and follow up with teachers to empower them to do the same. Supervise the Deans by Trimester Two.
- Maintain calm and poise in unpredictable, potentially stressful situations with students.
- Support with hiring by reviewing resumes and participating in interviews of prospective employees
- Support in the onboarding and training process of new employees
- Understand and practice fair legal employment practices
- Build trusting and supportive professional relationships with teachers and staff as the foundation of development and management work
- Capture sharp, meaningful evidence during observations
- Ground feedback and next steps for teachers in data and student outcomes
- Serve as the Testing Coordinator
- Oversee the school-based operations and office staff
- Participate in meetings regarding school finance, as deemed appropriate by the Principal
- Approve expenditures within the authority assigned by the Principal
- Participate in the school budgeting process
- Alongside the Principal, develops the school schedule and assures proper coverage of all posts, transitions, arrivals, and departures that uphold the school culture
- Reports on activities, organizational development progress, and student achievement to the CAO and other stakeholders as required
- Ensures compliance with all IB requirements
- Have previously held a full-time principal position in an urban elementary school
- Hold a master's degree in Education or a related field
- Currently holds School Building Leader certification or will complete SBL during the one-year residency
- Proven track record of improving academic outcomes for students
- A team player who is flexible and able to adapt to circumstances that change and evolve
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent computer skills, Excel, and Office software in particular

JOB OVERVIEW
The Senior Principal in Residence is an experienced principal who will work for one year in our elementary school to build relationships with students, families, and teachers, learn about the International Baccalaureate program and the other aspects of our curriculum, and understand our school culture. During this first year, the Senior Principal in Residence will work alongside our current Elementary School Principal, who will transition out of the role at the end of the school year. After one year of residency, the Senior Principal in Residence will become the Elementary School Principal for the school year. The Senior Principal in Residence is an experienced principal who will be able to successfully lead a 400+ student elementary school.
