    Responsibilities:


    The Health Unit Coordinator serves as a resource for unit nursing staff, patients, and visitors by assisting with care coordination, providing information, and securing assistance.

    The Health Unit Coordinator is expected to provide exceptional customer service. This is done in a manner that reflects our mission, vision, and values.


    Responsibilities and Accountabilities:


    Performs coordinating functions accurately and efficientlyGreet patients and visitors and provide them with direction and informationMaintains unit information sources such as care assignmentsUnit and patient needs are prioritized and implemented according to hospital policies, procedures, and standardsInterpersonal communication is courteous, responsive, and timelyPerforms accurate and timely processing of physician orders that are within scope of practicePatient admission, transfer, and discharge are efficiently processed and documented in EHRProvides clerical support to the unit and hospitalDemonstrates customer service approach in care and interactions with othersParticipates in quality improvement activities to evaluate and improve systems and processes that support patient careMaintain patient confidentialityQualifications:Requires a high school diploma.

    A Health Unit Coordinator/Medical Secretary Certificate or Health Unit Coordinator/Medical Secretary two-year degree is preferred.
    At least 1 year work experience in Health Unit Coordinator or Medical Secretary Position.
