    Dordt University is currently seeking a theatre arts faculty member whose primary responsibilities include teaching courses in theatre and design and also serving as technical director for Theatre Arts productions, mentoring and training students within the co-curricular contexts of technical direction, the production process, and the scene shop's daily activities. This faculty member will serve as a member of the Theatre Arts department, which offers two mainstage shows and numerous student-led and other productions throughout the year.


    Responsibilities: Dordt faculty advance the mission of the university through contributions to Reformational teaching and scholarship, student recruitment and retention, campus and community service, Core program support, and ongoing professional and program development.

    • Teaching opportunities include introductory and advanced courses in theatre and design, with the possibility of also teaching courses in Core, Art & Design, and/or Communication, in line with the candidate's experience and qualifications.
    • Our professors engage in scholarship and academic service within Dordt University's growing and highly collaborative community of faculty and students. The successful candidate will regularly involve students in creative/scholarly activity to extend their learning across curricular and co-curricular contexts.

    Qualifications: The university seeks candidates with an earned M.F.A. or M.A. in theatre arts or a related field; candidates with an earned B.F.A. or B.A. in theatre with at least five years of exceptional experience in professional and/or higher education theatre (as recognized by peers in the field) will be considered. Experience in teaching is preferred, and/or work experience or research that focuses on leading, teaching, and learning in the fields of theatre arts and design. A commitment to excellence in college-level teaching, including curriculum design, classroom management, and ongoing student learning assessment is required.
