    Director of Programs & Member Engagement (FPN2)

    Florida Philanthropic Network understands the complexities of grantmaking

    Our FPN connects more than 700 Florida foundation leaders and grantmaking professionals, funder- focused programming, resources and research from the field.

    Together, FPN members can build a successful model for cooperation and collaboration among all sectors business, government and nonprofit to promote, develop and advance philanthropy and improve the quality of life for all Floridians.

    Position Overview

    This is a full-time exempt position that reports to the President & CEO and is based in the Tampa office.

    Essential Accountabilities
    The FPN Director of Programs & Member Engagement shall

    have primary oversight for FPNs learning agenda, designing programmatic opportunities that align with FPNs strategic plan

    and that engage our members.

    In this role, you will be responsible for developing a program and learning calendar annually based on best practices of adult learning that incorporates a balance of educational and professional development programming for core programs, member issue briefings, member constituencies/networks, convenings, public programs, co-sponsored programs with colleague organizations, and the annual FPN Summit.

    Moreover, you will develop and implement a long-term

    educational strategy to further FPNs vision and mission.
    Member Engagement, Building Field Knowledge via Program & Learning Resources

    The FPN Director of Programs & Member Engagement shall identify, monitor and incorporate key national, regional and local trends and issues relevant to FPN, its membership, and philanthropy in general, as well as the emerging national direction on the future of the field.

    In this role, you will also develop, manage, and maintain a variety of non-programmatic print and electronic resources and services accessible to members and staff.

    Planning and Budgeting

    The FPN Director of Programs & Member Engagement shall develop an annual work plan for all assigned services and responsibilities.

    In this role, you will prepare, monitor and manage budgets of education and professional development programs, conferences and special projects, and other activities, as assigned, taking corrective action as needed to meet financial goals.

    s strategic plan and budget.

    Under the direction of the President & CEO, the FPN Director of Programs & Member Engagement provides key leadership for its programs and strategic engagement initiatives to serve a diverse and sophisticated membership throughout Florida.

    This position is responsible for creating and supporting opportunities for members to be actively engaged with FPN through programming, affinity groups, member networks and special initiatives or projects.

    S/he will identify and implement member programming and convening, in concert with staff Team FPN, consultants and volunteers leaders, to engage members and partners in learning and action to promote and support effective philanthropy and to

    advance FPNs mission and leader

    ship work.
    FPNs new strategic plan, adopted in February 2017,

    establishes our core values as Leadership, Inclusion, Collaboration, Learning and Integrity. One of

    FPNs strategic goals is to Advance the Common Good by

    I

    ncreasing Philanthropys Effectiveness in Florida and will be fulfilled by two critical strategies:
    Design a learning agenda that is both proactive to key issues facing the sector and reactive to emerging trends leading to better outcomes in member education; and,
    Establish a Body of

    Knowledge to drive FPNs future discussions, training, and engagement

    of other sectors.
    Member Relations and Management

    The FPN Director of Programs & Member Engagement shall serve as a partner to the President and the entire staff team in designing and implementing efforts to strategically and systematically engage current members.

    In this role, you will lead efforts to strengthen member relationships, learning more about member needs, and identify emerging industry trends


    including overseeing the stewardship of current members along with the overall membership recruiting and retention efforts in collaboration with Team FPN.

    Leadership and Development

    The FPN Director of Programs & Member Engagement shall be a leader in enhancing the image and positive impact of FPN as a leader in Florida philanthropy.

    In this role, you will provide leadership and direction to the development and implementation of special projects as envisioned and/or as assigned.

    And, you would serve as a positive role model in your representation of FPN with members, partners and all other constituencies.


    Member Programs & Learning:
    Evaluation and Assessment
    The FPN Director of Programs & Member Engagement shall design and implement rigorous program evaluation and member feedback procedures

    for member programs and learning as a whole and for individual program offerings


    to determine whether FPN is achieving its program and learning goals and to integrate the learning from these assessments to improve future outcomes.

    In this role you will work directly with Team FPN and its member groups to implement processes to collect feedback on

    whats working and not working

    and to generate ideas for future learning opportunities.

    And, you would evaluate whether FPN programs incorporate national, regional and local trends with respect to the current thinking and direction of where the field is heading and evolving as a whole.

    An understanding that other duties will be assigned by the President & CEO, as needed to meet the member and business needs of FPN.

    Selection Criteria to Qualify for this Position:

    The ideal candidate is a relentless problem-solver and systems thinker with both strong analytical and communications skills who is comfortable in a fast-paced, results-oriented team environment.

    FPN is looking for these specific skills, expertise and characteristics:
    Bachelor's degree or equivalent

    ; Masters degree preferred.
    Minimum of five

    years experi

    ence in philanthropy, the nonprofit sector, a membership association, or related field.

    Strong knowledge of and direct experience in the field of philanthropy and/or nonprofits and a clear understanding of the opportunities and challenges facing grantmakers and nonprofits today.

    Experience in working with community foundations is preferred.
    Demonstrated skills and experience in adult education, professional development and training, and/or organizational management. Understanding and application of the principles of adult learning preferred.
    Demonstrated ability to lead and oversee all phases of professional development, program planning and implementation

    from concept through development, presentation, and follow-up evaluation.
    Demonstrated experience and success developing and using varied learning strategies and technologies, e.g. curriculum based, peer to peer, networking, online resources, etc.
    Demonstrated leadership, coaching and relationship management experience. Commitment to supporting member leadership as well as staff-driven projects.
    Exceptional communicator, both in writing and with face-to-face presentation skills.
    Skills and experience in using information technology to advance educational opportunities.
    Ability to organize tasks and complete assignments within given deadlines. Ability to manage competing

    demands and communicate promptly as priorities shift.
    Self-starter; ability to take the initiative to develop and implement programs and ideas.
    Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities and needs. Ability to handle challenges with a solutions-focus and sense of humor.

    Ability to work effectively both independently, as well as collaboratively with FPN staff team, task forces, committees, and other key constituencies.

    Enthusiasm for the practice of organized philanthropy and exceptional interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to manage key relationships with integrity and consistency, including a keen ability to work effectively and respectfully with politically, ideologically, culturally and geographically diverse people and communities.

    Typical Working Environment of this Position:
    Work is typically performed in an inside, sheltered environment. Some off-site work is required when hosting programs outside the FPN office. Some travel is required, approximately 20%. The typical hazards associated with travel outside the office apply.
