    Description

    Overview of the Position

    The Medical Assistant plays a vital role as an integral member of the patient-centered medical home team. This position is responsible for facilitating seamless coordination of care between patients and medical providers, while supporting the clinical team in delivering high-quality healthcare services efficiently.

    Education and Experience

    • Minimum of a High School Diploma or Equivalent from an Accredited Institution
    • National Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) Certification
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification Required

    Required Skills and Abilities

    • Maintain Current General Medical Knowledge
    • Effective Communication with Patients, Colleagues, and Guests
    • Ability to Take Initiative and Handle Multiple Tasks Simultaneously
    • Knowledge of Policies, Procedures, Regulations, and Protocols
    • Familiarity with Database Systems (e.g., Electronic Medical Records)
    • Bilingual in English/Spanish Preferred
    • Understanding of Medication Names and Usage
    • Medical Terminology
    • At Least Two Years of Experience in a Physician's Office
    • Excellent Interpersonal Skills
    • Attention to Detail
    • Ability to Multitask
    • Compassion for Patients

    Supervisory Responsibilities

    This position has no direct reports.

    Essential Job Functions

    • Assist Medical Providers in Patient Evaluation and Treatment, Including Intake, Vital Sign Collection, Diagnostic Procedures, and Laboratory Work
    • Support with Medication Refills as Needed
    • Facilitate Efficient Patient Flow and Room Turnover
    • Maintain a Clean and Well-Supplied Work Environment
    • Perform Data Entry Tasks for Reporting Purposes
    • Respond to Phone Calls in a Timely Manner
    • Perform Practice-Specific Duties According to Recommended Guidelines
    • Participate in Training Opportunities to Enhance Knowledge and Skills
    • Utilize Data Systems for Chart Preparation Before Patient Appointments
    • Develop and Maintain Working Knowledge of Equipment Needed for Duties
    • Administer Vaccines and Immunizations to Pediatric and Adult Patients
    • Communicate Effectively with Other Healthcare Entities, Departments, and Guests
    • Manage and Maintain Medical Records
    • Schedule Appointments
    • Provide Education to Patients and Their Families
    • Assist in Other Offices as Needed (May Include Travel)
    • Help Maintain Medical Supply Inventory
    • Support in Training New Medical Assistants on Standard Working Procedures at HopeHealth
    • Perform Other Duties as Assigned

    Physical Requirements

    Hearing: Adequate for In-Person and Telephone Communication Speaking: Must Clearly Communicate with Patients Over the Telephone Vision: Visual Acuity Sufficient for Reading Printed Sources and Computer Screens Other: Occasional Lifting and Carrying Up to 10 Pounds Unassisted, Regularly Pushing, Pulling, and Exerting Effort for up to 30 Pounds Frequent Bending, Reaching, Repetitive Hand Movements, Standing, Walking, Squatting, and Sitting Throughout a Regular Work Shift.
