    The Radiologic & Imaging Sciences Programs (RISP), an undergraduate degree program of the IU School of Medicine Department of Radiology and Imaging Sciences is seeking to hire an Assistant Professor of Clinical Radiologic Sciences to serve as Nuclear Medicine Technology (NMT) Program Director.

    The individual in this position plays an integral role in maintaining the department's educational mission and is necessary in the State of Indiana as it serves as the sole provider of NMT education.

    Additionally, the program is accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Educational Programs in Nuclear Medicine Technology (JRCNMT).

    The NMT Program Director is responsible for all aspects of the NMT program which includes two cohorts of students, juniors and seniors, for a total of 14-18 students.

    The NMT program serves societal and medical community stakeholders by educating competent Nuclear Medicine Technologists.

    This person is responsible for fulfilling the mission of service to the University by actively participating on School and University committees.

    Nuclear Medicine Technology is a specialized field of medical imaging.

    To be successful in this role the individual must be able to demonstrate at least four years of post-certification nuclear medicine technology experience in the field, at least one year of experience teaching in the didactic and/or clinical setting for a NMT program, hold certification and registration in nuclear medicine technology from a national certification board, and must deliver quality education.

    The expectation is that this individual has built a wide variety of experience in NMT.


    As NMT Program Director, the department relies on this individual to be well versed in curriculum development, supervision, instruction, evaluation, and academic advising.

    In addition, this individual must implement the policies and procedures of the NMT Program and develop programmatic changes and requirements.

    They collaborate with the Radiologic & Imaging Sciences (RISP) Program Director and the Office of Health Professions Programs (HPP) to review and revise admission requirements.

    Additionally, they act as an academic and behavioral advisor to NMT students and collaborate with the RISP Program Director for securing and maintaining clinical affiliation agreements.

    This position requires the individual to teach core NMT didactic courses, direct delivery of all clinical experience activities, administer clinical competency records, and establish methods used to evaluate and measure clinical progress.

    They also work as a liaison between NMT students and clinical affiliates to maintain optimal clinical experiences for both the student and the clinical affiliate.

    Additionally, this individual serves as a leader to clinical faculty and recommends changes to policies and procedures used in clinical courses.

    The NMT Program currently has over 25 clinical site affiliates

    Basic Qualifications

    Qualifications

    Current or previous administrative experience in a large, University-based nuclear medicine technology program


    Meets qualifications required by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Nuclear Medicine Technology (JRCNMT) to serve as a Nuclear Medicine Technology Program Director.


    These qualifications include:

    • Holds, at a minimum, a master's degree
    • Is proficient in curriculum development, supervision, instruction, evaluation, and academic advising
    • Documents three years clinical experience in the professional discipline
    • Documents two years of experience as an instructor in an accredited NMT program
    • Holds certification and registration in nuclear medicine technology from a national certification board
