    Job Summary

    This position is in the Department of Small and Local Business Development (DSLBD).

    This program supports equitable access to business development information, tools, and resources for all businesses with a focus on early stage and microbusinesses.

    Duties And Responsibilities


    Incumbent is responsible for the planning, organizing and oversight of the day-to-day activities for the assigned programs, initiative and projects which includes identifying and managing the lifecycle to be used, formulating project team.

    Conducts outreach to the entrepreneurial communities of small and microbusinesses in DC to connect community members with resources and each other.

    Forms project level partnerships with sister agencies in DC Government, non-profits and community-based organizations, and other entities and individuals who support the growth of small and microbusinesses.

    Develops and writes grant proposals, project evaluations, and marketing materials and surveys.

    In conjunction with the Program Manager for Innovation and Equitable Development and division colleagues in the expansion of programs, builds an inclusive and equitable ecosystem for supporting all DC resident populations, with a focus on growing the base of District-based brands.

    Manages scheduling of public events and backend infrastructure for programming.

    Engages the small employer as well as the freelance, creative, and arts communities in supporting broadly inclusive initiative of the DC Brands programs.

    Builds and strengthens personal and intuitional expertise in hyperlocal business development, marketing and branding infrastructure, and the development of creative, microenterprises that rely on support through the business regulatory system.

    Maintain a strong understanding of and network with the main agencies that regulate micro and creative businesses to provide enhanced technical assistance and guidance for navigation of the regulatory system.

    Maintain programmatic social media accounts with regular content development and community engagement.

    Qualifications And Education


    At least one (1) year of specialized experience which must be equivalent to the CS-12 grade level of the District of Columbia Government.

    Specialized experience is experience which is in or directly related to the line of work of the position and has equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position such as but not limited to the ability to; display expert knowledge of the agencies' functions, organizational structure, major programs, policies, procedures, and guidelines.

    Knowledge of the District Government agencies that interact with DC businesses.
