- Reviewing patient information and medical records to accurately code diagnoses and procedures
- Preparing and submitting medical claims to insurance companies
- Verifying insurance eligibility and coverage for patients
- Following up on unpaid claims and denials, and appealing when necessary
- Resolving billing discrepancies and answering patient inquiries regarding their bills
- Keeping up to date with changes in medical billing codes and regulations
- Maintaining patient confidentiality and adhering to HIPAA guidelines
- High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree in healthcare administration or related field is a plus
- Proven experience as a Medical Biller or in a similar role such as Insurance Appeals and Medical Coding
- In-depth knowledge of medical billing codes (CPT, ICD-10, HCPCS) and insurance guidelines
- Familiarity with medical terminology and procedures
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency in using medical billing software and electronic health records (EHR) systems
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
- Knowledge of Billing HIPAA regulations and patient privacy laws
