    The welder lays out, fits and welds parts as specified by layout, welding diagram, blueprint, or work order.

    Reads and understands welding blueprints.
    Interprets welding symbols and familiarizes self with welding specifications.
    Selects equipment and plans layout, assembly, and welding.
    Bolts, clamps, and tack welds parts to secure in position for welding.
    Positions parts in jigs or fixtures on table or floor, or clamps parts together along lay out marks.

    Properly adjusts welding unit to obtain amperage, voltage, slope, and/or pulse as specified by work order or joint welding procedure.

    Repairs broken or cracked parts/tools per rework instructions.
    Examines work periodically to verify that deposited welds and pertinent dimensions are within specified limits.
    Cleans and degreases weld joint when necessary prior to depositing weld.
    Ability to operate a forklift.
    Ability to operate overhead crane and/or hoist.
    Read and understand internal procedures and policies.
    Basic computer knowledge and skills - able to learn new screens, reports, functions and simple software programs with assistance.

    Required Experience/Education/Training/Certifications

    up to 3 years related experience in job function and/or training; Welding certification testing completed or skills or capabilities to become certified within a reasonable period of time.

    Work Environment and Safety Equipment Required

    Working conditions are: 100% manufacturing environment.

    Occasionally required to work near moving mechanical parts; exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes, or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and extreme cold and extreme heat.

    Welding hood must be worn/down at all times while welding.
    Safety glasses (ANSI Z87 compliant) required in all manufacturing areas.

    Depending on the candidate's skills, qualifications and experience, they will be hired into an entry (I) level, intermediate (II) level or expert (III) level job and pay scale.
