- Codes complex and difficult records correctly concerning the diagnosis, operations and/or procedures.
- Assures the final diagnosis and operative procedures as stated by the physician are valid and complete.
- Maintain paper and electronic medical records in accordance with Indian Health Service, State and local regulations.
- Scan documents into the electronic health record using Vista Imaging.
- Provides education and coding updates to medical staff, business office staff and other healthcare providers.

Summary
This position is located in the Branch of Health Records Services, Division of Administrative Services, Fort Belknap Service Unit, Harlem, Montana in the Billings Area Indian Health Service. The primary purpose of this position is to perform a variety of medical records coding and other medical records functions.
