    is seeking to hire a Materials Handler for our client in Portland, OR

    Description:
    Has experience in a TRADITIONAL WAREHOUSE SETTING (there are no conveyor belts at this facility candidates MUST be OK on their feet for 10-12 hours per day, and have good spatial awareness as workers are moving constantly around the facility)
    Able to pick items per hour
    An average order is probably around 40 pieces but it can be highly variable

    Some are quite a bit larger than others - for example a weekend from a large restaurant chain order can be over 100 pieces easily.

    Typically after around 4 weeks we would expect to see a viable candidate at pcs per hour
    At or above 100 after 6 weeks.
    Electric Pallet Jack (required) and stand-up REACH TRUCK (preferred as they will be using this if converted).
    Having worked in/be OK working in cold/wet environment AND can provide their own PPE for the cold.
    Proof of a good attendance record (having worked at all previous employers for min 6 months over the past 2 years)
    min 6 months of selecting experience.
    Able to lift up to 50lbs (individually).
    min 6 months of Experience, Responsible for operating an electric pallet jack AND reach truck, selecting the correct products from warehouse racking, labeling product using SOS label technology, palletizing product as it is selected to build customer orders, and delivering product to the dock in a safe and efficient manner
    Hand selects orders within various warehouse environments of fluctuating temperatures, Cooler, correctly places labels on product, stacks product on pallets in accordance with proper selecting procedures (e.g., no stacking heavy-on-light, labels facing out, etc.), stages pallets for loading on proper dock locations, stretch-wraps product on loading dock, maintains and safely operates all assigned equipment, including but not limited to pallet jack, SOS unit, and personal protective equipment, and performs pre and post-trip inspections of equipment
    Must follow Client Safe preferred work methods at all times and follow sanitation requirements in order to comply with policy set forth by Client and by AIB (American Institute of Baking)
    This position requires working until all products are accurately selected and loaded including potential overtime on holidays and weekends

    Essential skills include the ability to meet or exceed minimum efficiency levels established through an engineered production standard, working rapidly at a constant pace for the entire shift in a fast paced environment, meeting or exceeding established cases per error goals, and developing a good working knowledge of product, placement, and inventory control techniques and procedures.

    Basic requirements include being over the age of 18, the ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English as it relates to the job and safety requirements, basic arithmetic skills, and adequate physical fitness to lift up to 50 lbs regularly
    Preferred requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent
    Reports to Night Warehouse Manager / Supervisor
