    Position Specifications
    Incumbents in this position are responsible for managing the laboratory activities of the Water Division.

    Examples of duties include ensuring that all water produced at the Chain of Rocks and Howard Bend Plants meet DNR and EPA regulations, validating all data produced for maintaining state/federal certifications, and supervising chemists and other technical staff.

    Minimum Qualifications
    A Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or Biochemistry; plus four years of water treatment laboratory experience. OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

    Certification:

    Must possess a Class C Missouri Public Drinking Water Treatment System Operator Certification issued by the Missouri Department of Natural Resources.

    Proof of Class C Certification must be presented at the time of the interview.

    License:
    Must possess and maintain a valid Missouri driver's license while employed by the City of St. Louis.

    Must possess a valid driver's license at the time of filing application and be able to present it at the Oral Interview.

    Applicants who do not possess a Missouri driver's license must present a "Driving Record Check" from their State's Department of Motor Vehicles.

    S PREFERENCE POINTS:

    To be eligible for veteran's preference points, the applicant must submit a copy of their DD 214 Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty with the Employment Application or upon request.

    The Director of Personnel may, in their discretion, accept alternate documentation.

    CITY RESIDENT

    S PREFERENCE POINTS:

    City residents who pass an examination for a position in the classified service and do not receive any other preference will receive a five (5) point preference on a scale of 100 points on the exam.

    An additional one (1) point shall be added to the passing score of City residents who receive any other preference on a scale of 100 points.

    City residents must have resided in the City for at least one (1) year at the time of filing their application to be eligible for the preference points.

    Some positions may require candidates to pass a "Character Investigation" prior to appointment.
