    EXEMPT

    PRIMARY PURPOSE

    This position is responsible for developing growth and profitability of a commercial portfolio consisting of less complex commercial relationships. This position maintains strong sales and service culture with emphasis on sound underwriting decisions.

    Performance of the duties requires a strong work ethic, strong organizational and analytical skills as well as attention to detail.

    Also, clear communication and good customer service skills are necessary.

    The following essential duties do not cover an all-inclusive list of work requirements.

    Individuals will perform other job-related duties as assigned, including work in other areas to cover absences or otherwise balance the workload.



    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS


    • Knowledge of the general operations and procedures of New Peoples Bank.
    • Knowledge of modern office practices and procedures. Knowledge of modern office equipment including copiers, personal computers, mainframe terminals, calculators, facsimile machines, etc.
    • Knowledge of computer software and operations to include underwriting/lending software programs and Microsoft Office.
    • Knowledge of lending policies and procedures, lending laws, regulations and compliance requirements.
    • Knowledge of credit analysis processes and loan structuring.
    • Ability to make mathematical computations with speed and accuracy.
    • Ability to present ideas and information in a clear and concise manner, both orally and in writing.
    • Ability to meet and deal tactfully and courteously with the staff and general public.
    • Ability to meet and deal tactfully and courteously with the staff and general public as well as establish and maintain effective working relationships across all levels of the organization.
    • Ability to maintain moderately complex files, records, and reports.
    • Ability to apply analytical reasoning, problem solving skills, and corrective action resolutions to lending situations.
    • Regularly refresh knowledge of and familiarity with online, mobile, electronic and traditional products and services. Regularly practice/rehearse customer conversations and engagement skills around the entire suite of New Peoples Bank products and services. Invite customer respect by demonstrating product and service knowledge and engaging customers around the benefits of using them.
    • Performs related duties and responsibilities as required and assigned.
    Requirements


    EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE


    Graduate from an accredited four-year college with Bachelor degree in Finance or related field, or a minimum of 5 years of banking experience involving lending; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the required knowledge and abilities.


    KEY COMPETENCIES


    • Develops and retains commercial business, meeting with current or prospective customers of moderate complexity.
    • Accepts commercial loan applications and processes information, analyzing and collecting all relative financial information.
    • Determines credit worthiness of customer in adherence to bank policies and procedures and ensures compliance with all applicable state and federal regulations.
    • Approves or declines loan requests within established credit authority.
    • Maintains a Commercial Loan Portfolio and monitors relationships to determine deterioration of credit and/or risk on an on-going basis.
    • Maintains existing loan portfolio to include managing and minimizing loan exceptions, outstanding documentation, and updating financial information on a routine basis.
    • Serves as primary contact relative to commercial services needs within officer identified portfolios.
    • Responsible for requesting analysis on new and renewed requests in accordance with loan policy for appropriate approval by management of loan committee.
    • Maintains knowledge and understanding of new commercial lending products and services to include deposit and loans, loan policies, documentation, structuring and regulatory requirements to better serve the bank's customers.
    • Actively participates in local civic organizations and professional functions to enhance business opportunities and promote the bank's image within the community.
    • Work closely with the Sr. Credit Officer and Sr. Loan Officer.
