Duties

POSITION SUMMARY

The Registered Nurse Professional Development Practitioner (NPDP) Program Manager is an EXPERT nurse and a skilled professional who influences professional role competence and growth of learners in a variety of settings with a desired outcome of improved population health. The NPDP III provides expertise as an educator, facilitator, mentor, change agent, leader, champion of inquiry, partner for practice transitions and advocate for the NPD specialty. The NPDP III demonstrates expertise in leadership at the systems level that is sustainable, with experience, and uses creative approaches to manage complex situations. The NPDP III incorporates evidence-based practice, existing and new practice, quality, safety, and regulatory standards into education that aligns with the organization/unit culture to improve knowledge and skills necessary for patient care and/or organization development.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:

Responsible for the scope and standards of practice and corresponding competencies as stated by the Association of Nurse Professional Development
Demonstrates attention to detail, strong planning and organization skills.
Responsible for the development, implementation, delivery, coordination and evaluation of management of education programs and projects.
Anticipates new knowledge needs for changing practice and conducts educational needs assessments
Utilizing adult learning theories and evidence-based practice in teaching modalities
Collaborates with peers and leaders to meet outcomes of staff education/development and VA performance measures that impact Veteran Care.
Systematically evaluates and improves the quality and effectiveness of the education program and the learning organization as evidence by learning outcomes.
Collects and analyzes data, submits reports, meets requirements of directives that result in successful program management and service-level outcomes.
