    Description

    Air and Marine Operations (AMO) is a component of U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), offering those with Merchant Mariner Credentials an exceptional opportunity to work in law enforcement with an elite team of highly trained professionals.

    This job provides a rewarding career with great pay, benefits, and job stability. As a Marine Interdiction Agent, you will work with the nation's largest law enforcement organization to maintain security at our national borders while facilitating international travel and trade.

    Salary and Benefits

    The salary for this position starts at $73,939 per year and can reach up to $96,116 per year based on qualifications and duty location.

    Duty Locations

    You may be assigned to one of several duty locations within the Southwest Region, Southeast Region, or Caribbean Air and Marine Branch, including Fort Lauderdale, Miami, Marathon, Fajardo, Mayaguez, Ponce, San Juan PR, Saint Thomas VI, Bellingham WA, Port Huron MI, Houma LA, and Brownsville TX.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    As a Marine Interdiction Agent, your duties will include:

    • Monitoring suspect persons, vehicles, or vessels for illegal activities
    • Interpreting radar data to track and intercept vessels
    • Searching persons, vessels, baggage, and cargo for contraband or weapons
    • Collecting and analyzing intelligence

    Qualifications

    To qualify for this position, you must have a qualifying Merchant Mariner Credential and one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level.

    Other Requirements

    You must be a U.S. Citizen, have had primary U.S. residency for at least three of the last five years, and meet the age requirement of 40 years old or less (with certain exceptions). Veterans' Preference Eligibility is also available.

    Training: You may be required to complete a training program as a condition of employment. Travel may be required based on operational needs.
