The Role:
Controls Engineer IV
As a Controls Engineer IV, you lead the design and execution of building management and environmental control systems that support Switch's data centers.
You serve as a technical lead on large projects, guide other engineers, and coordinate vendor work to ensure systems perform as designed.
This role requires independent judgment in a mission-critical environment.What You'll Do
Design and develop sequences of operation for HVAC and power-related building management systems
Program, configure, and optimize BMS platforms for reliability and efficiency
Lead controls projects from planning through commissioning
Install, test, and validate control devices and system integrations
Maintain BMS databases, graphics, trends, and system infrastructure
Create and maintain as-built wiring diagrams and technical documentation
Oversee vendor work to ensure quality, safety, and compliance
Support change management processes and follow established standards
Respond to mission-critical events, including after-hours support when required
Mentor Environmental Controls Engineers on technical standards and best practices
Evaluate and validate new controls technologies and system improvements

What You'll Bring
Required
7–10 years of experience designing, installing, or maintaining building management systems for HVAC and power systems
Strong knowledge of HVAC control systems and mechanical operations
Working knowledge of electrical systems in data center environments, including transformers, cooling systems, pumping systems, and air handling units
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and schematics
Experience coordinating vendors on technical projects
Experience using BMS and controls software platforms
Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Ability to work safely near live electrical and mechanical systems
Ability to lift up to 35 pounds regularly and up to 100 pounds occasionally
Preferred
Degree in electrical, mechanical, electronics, or software engineering
Industry certifications related to controls or building automation
