    Summary



    About the Position: Serve as Staff Nurse (Clinical) in the Multi-Service Ward within the Defense Health Agency (DHA), North Carolina Coastal Market, Naval Medical Center Camp Lejeune.

    • This is a Direct Hire Solicitation
    • Incentives may be authorized.
    • Advanced in-hire rate may be authorized.
    • Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs may be authorized.


    Duties

    • Consistently utilize comprehensive knowledge to identify patient care problems, formulate patient care plans, and revise plans to change complex and unstable patients under routine and emergent conditions in the medical-surgical environment.
    • Perform independent nursing assessments utilizing appropriate interview skills to accurately identify existing and potential problems with various populations including pediatric and geriatric.
    • Administer narcotics, set up patient controlled analgesic machines with proper settings as ordered, monitor epidural catheters and pain nerve block catheters, and report progress to the anesthesiologist.
    • Operate specialized equipment for neonate/pediatric patients.
    • Teach patients and family members about disease processes, pre and post operative care, pre and post diagnostic procedures, equipment and treatment related to care, and expected and possible adverse reactions to medication.
    • Prepare reports documenting patient census, bed availability, manpower resources and staffing sheets.
