    The Department of Veterans' Services is actively seeking dedicated Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN) who are committed to providing top-notch geriatric nursing care.     As an LPN at our facility, you'll deliver comprehensive geriatric nursing care, creating a safe, healing, and hygienic setting for our residents. Under the supervision of an RN or physician, your responsibilities will include medication administration, treatment procedures, and overseeing subordinate staff to ensure residents receive the best care possible.

    Your Impact:

    • Specialized Nursing Care: Administer medications and perform treatments such as wound care, tracheostomy care, and catheter care within the scope of your license.
    • Resident Monitoring: Observe and report on the effectiveness of medications and treatments, collaborating with the team to meet residents' needs.
    • Care Planning: Participate in developing assessments like Minimum Data Set (MDS), quarterly reviews, and personalized care plans for residents.
    • Leadership and Training: Lead and train subordinate staff in resident care practices, engage in staff development programs to enhance team skills.
    • Communication: Maintain clear and effective communication with residents, families, and staff for optimal care and support.

    Job Duties:

    • Administer medication and perform treatments as per physician's orders and within the license scope.
    • Observe and report on treatment effectiveness.
    • Ensure an adequate supply of supplies and medication.
    • Assist in developing care plans, supervise staff, and provide direct resident care.
    • Participate in training programs and staff development.
    • Conduct quality improvement and infection control activities.
    • Train new employees and perform other assigned technical duties.

    Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

    • Understand gerontological/geriatric nursing theory and practice.
    • Recognize resident conditions and changing care needs.
    • Apply team nursing procedures and treatment plans.
    • Demonstrate pharmacology knowledge and laws governing nursing practices.
    • Utilize practical nursing methods and oral/written communication effectively.
    • Assess client needs and establish strong working relationships.
