Senior Business Objects Universe Designer

Job Description:

Successful candidates will demonstrate an in-depth experience with developing complex SAP Business Objects (BO) universes and reports to support multiple applications in a multi-tenant common service BO platform utilized across the enterprise. The candidate will leverage experience in performing requirement analysis, architecting, developing, deploying, and supporting universe and report designs required by system owners to meet business and operational requirements. Candidates must possess experience implementing universes with diverse data sources such as DB2, Oracle, SQL Server, Salesforce, cloud-native databases (i.e., - PostgreSQL, MongoDB, etc.) and others supporting both traditional OLTP and data warehouses. The candidate will work directly with system owners, senior-level BO platform engineers and architects, as well as Government leadership to implement and optimize universes to meet ad-hoc reporting requirements as well as standard reports required by system owners. An understanding of DoD and government security standards and policies to include the ability to understand the security model implemented within the BO platform are needed to ensure all deployed changes are highly secure and available.

Qualifications:

• Six (6)+ years' experience developing universes and reports utilizing the BO Universe Design Tool (UDT) and IDT.
• Extensive experience with the latest BO releases to include the BO XI R3, Release 4.x platform.
• Experience with application integrations utilizing the BO SDKs to execute and render reports to application portals.
• Extensive knowledge and experience working with enterprise-level complex databases such Oracle RDBMS, IBM Db2, Microsoft SQL Server.
• Familiarity working with Unix variants such as Linux and IBM AIX.

Typical Duties/Abilities:

• Providing development of universes and reports for new tenant applications integrating into the shared BO common service.
• Integrating complex web-based applications operating in Windows and Unix environments with BO using the SDKs.
• Promotion of reports/universes/users along with security settings from lower to higher-level environments following Agency Change Management processes.
• Ensuring access levels (Developer, Reporter, Viewer, etc.) are incorporated into universes based on the Agency's BO security model to support data access controls based on the system needs.

Soft Skills

• Experience working with various SDLC methodologies (Agile Scrum, waterfall, etc.) and cross-functional teams (Product Owners, Scrum Masters, Developers, Designers, Business Analysts)
• Strong communication and collaboration skills with a track record of taking solution ownership and operating independently.
• Communication skills key Demonstrate an ability to effectively communicate with leadership and key stakeholders.
• Ability to articulate and document design and configuration choices and bring about consensus.

Education/Certifications:

• BS degree in Information Technology or another related technical discipline
• Security + Certification (Desired)
