TITLE:
School Bus Driver
School Year
Hourly Pay: $35 per hour
Hours: From 20 to 40 hours per week
Paid Time Off: 3 personal days and 12 sick days per year
Work-Year: 181 working days + 10 paid holidays
Reimbursement: Reimbursed for the cost of renewal of the Massachusetts School Bus Certificate
Sign-on Bonus: Receive $1000 if fully licensed and hired
Attendance Bonus: Receive up to $4,500 bonus for perfect attendance

POSITION SUMMARY:
A School Bus Driver provides clean, safe and reliable transportation for students to and from school as well as to and from special events such as field trips and athletic contests. School Bus Drivers are responsible for keeping to a specific route schedule and ensuring passenger safety during transit. Great job for single parents and/or parents with young children

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
Framingham Public Schools is eager to hire anyone interested in the position and will pay for their training while they obtain the following:

• Class A or B CDL license
• Passenger and School Bus Endorsement
• First Aid and CPR certification
• *Passing a drug test and CORI required

School Bus Drivers work without direct supervision and are solely responsible for the safety of their passengers and the bus. Bus drivers will be subject to high-stress situations. This position will require drivers to supervise and manage a diverse range of individuals. There may be some evening work, including driving students to school-related activities.
School Bus Drivers are expected to have a clean driving record; possess outstanding work habits, be reliable and report for runs on time; be able to fulfill yearly mandated requirements for school bus license renewal; and complete CORI information and fingerprinting background check as required by state law.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Be attentive to traffic and weather conditions and ensure passenger safety.
• Follow the planned route and schedule for departure times and stops.
• Conduct mandatory pre and post trip vehicle inspections.
• Report routine maintenance or repairs in writing and submit to the Manager of Transportation
• Monitor and report fuel consumption, mileage, and passenger numbers.
• Reporting delays, accidents, and emergencies.
• Respond to emergency and non-emergency situations in accordance with District policies and procedures.
• Inspect the vehicle thoroughly before and after each trip.
• Assist with the loading and unloading of the bus when required.
• Enforce conduct and safety rules on the bus. Report inappropriate student behavior to the Director of Transportation.
• Maintain a clean vehicle.
• Support students.
• Other duties, as assigned, not inconsistent with the position.

PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

• Must be required to move about and may be required to traverse occasionally throughout the bus;
• Must often remain in a stationary position for considerable periods of time (prolonged sitting and driving in all types of weather conditions);
• Must perform work both indoors and outside in inclement weather; work involves potential exposure to temperature extremes, vibrations, and noise;
• Is expected to engage in lifting, pushing, and pulling equipment weighing up to 25 pounds, and occasionally heavier;
• Is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, or climb stairs;
• Must frequently use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and use hand strength to grasp tools;
• Must be able to assist students who have physical difficulties;
• Must be able to communicate effectively with and/or interact with students and other staff members;
• Must be able to see and hear continuously in order to ensure the safety of students, as well as speak frequently to provide instruction.
• May be required to move quickly across even or uneven surfaces;
• Is directly responsible for the safety and well-being of students;
• While the majority of the workday is spent inside the bus, may need to spend some time outdoors.
• May be exposed to bodily fluids, disease, or pathogens;
• May receive unintentional injuries from aggressive students; and
• May be required some degree of physical interaction with students who have difficulty controlling physical behavior.
