- Devoting an average of at least 15 hours per week to research and scholarly activities as delegated by the program director.
- Assisting in program administration, recruitment, instruction, and evaluation of residents.
- Developing and implementing program improvement goals.
- Enhancing the research environment and disseminating scholarly learning.
- Creating evaluation tools and contributing to professional committees.
- Developing and improving the written curriculum for internal medicine.
- Providing instruction and supervision to residents, evaluating their performance.
- Participating in faculty development activities and maintaining a scholarly learning environment.
- APDs must have exceptional administrative and educational skills.
- Faculty physicians must possess specialty expertise, teaching abilities, and be certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine.
- Faculty physicians must be appointed to the medical staff of St. Mary Mercy Hospital with an unrestricted license to practice medicine in Michigan.
