    JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:


    We are searching for a Senior Embedded Systems Engineer to join our Communications, Information, and Navigation Office (CINO) at Applied Research Laboratory (ARL).

    ARL's purpose is to research and develop innovative solutions to challenging scientific, engineering, and technology problems in support of the Navy, the Department of Defense (DoD), and the Intel Community (IC).

    ARL is an authorized DoD SkillBridge partner and welcomes all transitioning military members to apply.

    You Will:

    Define, code and debug image processing routines with an emphasis on motion recognition, optical flow techniques and image registration.
    Analyze and evaluate electronic hardware including discrete (analog/digital), mixed signal circuits and embedded processors.
    Provide innovative problem solving approaches to enhance organizational capabilities; use peer network to expand technical capabilities and identify new research opportunities

    Create opportunities to enhance technical methodology or content through expansion of existing or development of new efforts; may extend technology into new application areas; contribute or lead in intellectual development activities.

    This position can be filled at multiple levels, depending upon your education and experience. Typical requirements include

    a Bachelor's Degree; Master's Degree preferred in an Engineering or a science based discipline, 14+ years related experience. Additional experience and/or education are required for higher level positions
    Additional responsibilities for higher level position includes

    :

    Knowledge of model based system design, requirements generation and creation of system level design documentation.
    Liaison between individuals and units on projects with responsibility for acting independently on technical matters pertaining to own field
    Coordinate research and development activities between disciplines involving exploration of subject area, definition of scope and selection of problems for investigation and development of novel concepts and approaches
    Required skills/experience areas include:


    Design and development of real-time embedded systems that perform advanced data fusion algorithms incorporating sensors such as camera and imaging sensors, inertial measurements units, radio ranging and LIDAR.

    Embedded system design including electronic circuitry, FPGA logic and real-time processor coding.
    Electrical design, real-time systems, Image Science and Remote Sensing.
    Computer programming in one or more of the following:

    Python, C/C++ and/or Matlab.
    Estimation theory and applications including those that use techniques in Machine Learning
    Applying Vision-Aided-Navigation algorithms and techniques
    Leading and guiding/mentoring collaborative teams
    Technical Lead or Principal Investigator on DoD research programs
    Preferred skills/experience areas include:

    Active government security clearance
    Proficient in Matlab/Simulink with auto-coding
    Proficient in Guidance Navigation and Control and applications
    Graduate level understanding of Control Theory and applications
    Relevant experience with Hardware-in-the-Loop testing
    Ability to express yourself and ideas successfully to others in order to provide understanding
    Past experience working alongside a diverse group of people from a variety of cultures and backgrounds or previous success with collaborations in a multi-disciplinary, team-oriented, culture
    Your working location will be hybrid work from home/on-site. The on-site work location for this position will be located in Warminster, PA.

    This position will require periodic travel to remote locations in support of testing as part of a small team of researchers, engineers, and technologists.
