Unit overview:
Our Medical/Surgical unit is a 30-bed acute care telemetry unit.
Our team is dedicated to providing high quality patient and family centered care to patients with a wide variety of medical diagnoses.

Patient population served:
We serve various patient populations with a wide variety of diagnoses. This makes our unit the ideal unit to gain confidence and grow your skill set.
While working in this unit, you will have the opportunity to obtain nationally recognized certifications and specialized training such as:
Medical/Surgical Nurse Certification, engage in evidence-based research, participate in shared governance and unit council meetings, be a part of the QUEST program, attend preceptor training, and become a unit mentor.
UT Medical Center values the continued professional development of our nursing team members and highly encourages nurses to obtain their specialty practice certifications through the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), and/or other certifying organizations approved by the Magnet Recognition Program.
UT Medical Center currently supports nurses by paying for an original approved certification, and the following renewal of that certification.
A bonus, along with other incentives are also provided in recognition and appreciation of those nurses who have achieved this important and highly valued milestone while employed with our organization.
Staffing
Management structure of the team consists of the Nurse Manager, a Team Leader for each shift, and a shared Clinical Nurse Specialist during the day.
Orientation
All RNs complete a centralized hospital and specialized nursing orientation, in addition to the unit specific orientation. Competency-based orientation is structured to fit the needs of the experience level of the RN.
Preceptors on 10 East are chosen based on personality and work closely with the Team Leader and Nurse Manager to ensure that each orientee is successful.
Frequent check-ins will occur between the orientee, preceptor, and Nurse Manager to make sure the orientee feels comfortable during their unit orientation.
Orientation typically lasts around 12 weeks for new graduate nurses.Position Qualification:
Bachelors degree (BSN) or ASN
Current Registered Nurse licensure in Tennessee
