    This position is in our Office for Consumer and Environmental Protection where we perform a wide variety ofregulatory functions.

    The Agricultural Regulatory Specialist I job duties will include:
  • Assist and conduct inspections on gas pumps, small scales, and industrial scales using proper NationalInstitute of Standards and Technology Examination Procedure outlines or Department standard operatingprocedures to ensure compliance with National Institute of Standards and Technology Handbook 44 and state law.
  • Evaluate package labeling and net contents using National Institute of Standards and TechnologyHandbooks 130 and 133 to ensure compliance with state and federal laws.
  • Perform Price Verification Inspections following National Institute of Standards and TechnologyHandbook 130 Examination Procedure for Price Verification.
  • Perform Teen and Tobacco compliance checks aimed at preventing underage sale of tobacco and vaporproducts.
  • Obtain motor fuel samples using ASTM International Procedure for analysis to ensure fuel meetsapplicable state and federal standards.
  • Maintain all inspection and information technology equipment in accordance with department policy.Ensure vehicle is serviced and maintained in good operating condition.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • This position will work in Jefferson, Oldham, Shelby, Spencer and Bullitt counties.Employee will commute to the inspection sites from their home daily in a state-issued vehicle and onceinspections are completed, will return home. Reports and paperwork will be completed from home and vehicleusing state-issued computer equipment. A state-issued cell phone will be provided for business purposes.

    EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: NONE
    Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: NONE
    Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Experience in agriculture, inspection, quality control, regulatory, chemical application or application or inspection of pesticides or restricted chemicals, or a related field will substitute for the education on a year-for-year basis.
    SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license to qualify for employment in this job classification. Must maintain any required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment in this job classification. Working Conditions Typical working conditions will require travel to such places as stockyards, farms, businesses, and amusement parks. Has close contact with livestock animals in such areas as stockyards, barns and/or barnyards.
