    Join our growing teamThis position is a hybrid role (3x per week onsite) that will be based at our headquarters in Fremont, California.

    Nextracker seeks a creative Mechanical Test Engineer for a position on the design engineering team. The position will be located in Fremont, CA. This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing team leading the mechanical design of Nextracker's horizontal tracking systems.

    Here is a glimpse of what you'll do:

    Contribute to the prototype and qualification testing of the next generations of NEXTracker horizontal tracking productsWork with engineers on custom components to be fabricated/prototyped in-houseSetup and perform mechanical destructive testingSetup and perform outdoor long term reliability testingHere are some of what you'll need (required): Mechanical or similar Engineering DegreeAbility to perform physically demanding work such as moving and lifting equipment, standing for long periods of time, etc.


    Solidworks or CAD software experienceComputer skills:

    knowledge of Microsoft Office and other relevant computer programsAnalytical and numerical skills: ability to perform mathematical calculations (add, subtract, multiply, divide) in different units of measurement; ability to use concepts such as fractions, percentages, and ratiosStrong attention to detailFailure analysis experienceAbility to write, photograph, and document test information and compile and generate test reportsAbility to use precision measuring devices like calipersFabrication experience with shop tools such as chop saw, band saw, grinders, wrenches, etc.

    Experience with MIG weldingExcellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize and juggle multiple projectsMust possess solid written and verbal communication skillsSelf-motivated team playerAbility to work within a cross-functional team while maintaining self-sufficiencyHere are a few of our preferred experiences: 2 years of employment experience in a test lab operating test equipment with data acquisition systemsExperience with solar or renewable energyExperience with hydraulic and pneumatic systemsUnderstanding of electronic sensors such as load cells, strain gauges, displacement sensors, and hydraulic controlsExperience operating a forkliftAbility to program testing in LabView or other control programsAbility to operate/program 3+2 axis CNC's, Plasma CNC and other fabrication machines
