    Davis Wright Tremaine LLP is seeking a mid to senior level litigation attorney for engagement through the firm's flexible and alternative-track attorney program, DWTSurge.

    This position is a hybrid role.

    Some of the work may be performed remotely, but the position may also require some onsite work at one of Davis Wright Tremaine's California offices and appearing in California state court or arbitration as needed.

    This position will support the Firm's litigation practice group and will be dedicated to supporting complaints and collection cases for a valued DWT client under the supervision of partners.

    California bar admission and prior experience litigating in CA state court is required.


    Attorneys with prior experience from medium/large litigation firms, who are seeking hours that are more flexible, are encouraged to apply.

    In addition to flexibility, candidates can expect to work closely with DWT partners as part of a collaborative team, providing high-value and interesting legal services on an ongoing basis to one or more clients.

    This contract position will be part-time during the initial training and ramp up period.

    We anticipate an increase in hours to full-time hours once the schedule ramps up as new lawsuit are filed, however hours may fluctuate from week to week.

    We anticipate 25 hours initially, and up to but no more than 40 hours/week during peak times.

    While the engagement is for an initial 6-month contract term, there is potential to renew the contract position on an ongoing basis for successful candidates.


    The ideal candidate will have:

    • 7-12 years of commercial litigation experience in a large law firm setting
    • Experience handling unfair competition claims under California's BPC 17200 statute
    • Bar admission and physical presence in CA, with the ability to work on-site in the Firm's offices as needed
    • Availability to work an average of 25 hours per week, with flexibility to increase hours to no more than 40 hours per week or accommodate other fluctuations in workflow
    • Experience with Zoom and other business conference platforms
    • Experience handling a high volume of cases, including drafting, court appearances, some depositions, and witness preparation
    • Ability to quickly grasp and retain the relevant facts of multiple cases
    • Strong discovery and negotiation skills
    • Excellent writing skills, detail oriented, and the ability to produce high-quality work with minimal supervision and direction
    • Confidence in managing timelines and communicating effectively with clients and other stakeholders while on deadlines.
    • Comfort in learning or working with client accounting systems as needed to substantiate claims
    • Demonstrated success working efficiently on the day-to-day requirements of high-volume legal matters with similar fact patterns, as well as managing a high-volume of cases with a strategic and tactical perspective.
    Please note that this is a temporary contract position managed by DWT's flexible attorney program, DWTSurge. Compensation will be paid on an hourly basis, commensurate with experience and skill level (see below).

    Salary Range

    The hourly range for this position is $120 to $140 per/hour. Actual pay will be adjusted based on the candidate's education, training, experience and other job-related factors permitted by law. Attorneys may be eligible for medical benefits, 401(k) contributions, and paid sick leave.
