    Introduction

    The MD Department of Labor is seeking a part-time Speech Pathologist that can travel to different institutions across the state to provide speech services.\r

    Main Purpose of Job

    This position will provide speech related services to students at 12 Correctional Education schools statewide, and collaborate with the Special Education Coordinator to determine one's schedule. This position will work primarily with the Special Education Coordinator, Related Service Providers, the Special Educators, and the school Principals to ensure student's ages 18 to 21 with an Individual Education Program (IEP) are represented at annual and triennial meetings, receive their speech services, and are formally assessed as needed. Further, they will work in conjunction with these stakeholders to ensure IEPs are compliant with the Individual with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), the Code of Maryland Regulations (COMAR), and the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE).\r

    POSITION DUTIES

    IEP Provisions and Revisions\r

    Conduct consultation sessions with Special Education and Academic Teacher(s), the student, the parent/guardian, other Related Service Providers, and/or the Special Education Coordinator as part of the student's interdisciplinary IEP team.�\r
    Demonstrate the ability to use a wide range of tools or measures to formally assess students' communication functioning.�\r
    Interpret and discuss the diagnosis, etiology, and treatment recommended for each student in the form of a Comprehensive Speech and Communication Report, a verbal report at IEP meetings, and the documentation of the findings and services on the IEP.�\r
    Attends IEP meetings to assist in planning programs and identifying services to meet the special needs of each student.�\r

    Student IEP Implementations�\r

    Travel to schools and provide students with quality speech and language related services in accordance with a student's IEP goals, objectives, and related service hours and document the student's progress on the Maryland online IEP system (MOIEP).�\r
    Conduct consultation sessions with the student's teachers, and parent/guardian(s) in order to discuss the student's growth and needs in the classroom and in their speech and language therapy sessions.��\r

    Participation in the Special Education Department Program��\r
    \r
    \r
    Maintain strict confidentiality of students' records in accordance with policies outlined by IDEA, COMAR, MSDE, MD Labor CE, Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), and Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).\r
    Communicates with Principals and Special Educators to schedule visits to facilities, to schedule virtual meetings, and to schedule speech and language therapy sessions.��\r
    Attend professional development determined by and with the Special Education Coordinator.\r

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    Education:�� Set by the licensing requirements of the Maryland State Board of Audiologists, Hearing Aid Dispensers & Speech-Language Pathologists.\r

    Experience:�Three years of experience as a Speech-Language Pathologist�or Audiologist.\r
    \r
    \r
    Note:�\r
    Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military�service experience as a commissioned officer in Speech Pathologist and Audiologist classification or Speech�Pathologist or Audiologist specialty codes in the Speech Pathology and Audiology field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.\r

    DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    Applicants with experience in speech services are highly desired.\r
    Applicants must be willing to travel to facilities on the Eastern Shore, Baltimore, Jessup, and Western MD regions to provide testing and treatment services.\r

    LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

    1.�Candidates for positions in this classification must possess a current license from the Maryland State Board of Audiologists, Hearing Aid Dispensers & Speech-Language Pathologists, 4201 Patterson Avenue, Baltimore, Maryland 21215.\r
    2.�Employees in this classification must renew their license in accordance with Health Occupations Article, Title 2 Audiology, or Title 19 Speech-Language Pathology of the Annotated Code of Maryland.\r
    3.�Employees in this classification are required to possess a Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech Pathology or Audiology.� A copy of the current certificate must accompany the application form.\r
    4.�Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.\r

    BENEFITS

    Contractual employees who work for an agency covered under the State Employee and Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program, have a current employment contract and work 30 or more hours a week (or on average 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents. As a contractual employee, you will be responsible for paying 25% of the premiums for your medical and prescription coverage, including any eligible dependents you have enrolled. The State of Maryland will subsidize the remaining 75% of the cost for these benefits. You can also elect to enroll in dental coverage, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and life insurance, but will be responsible to pay the full premium for these benefits.\r
    Leave may be granted to a contractual employee who has worked 120 days in a 12 month period. This leave accrues at a rate of one hour for every 30 hours worked, not to exceed 40 hours per calendar year.\r
