    Job Description

    American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position on night shift, requiring at least 18 months of Med/Tele RN experience and a compact or NC license.

    Responsibilities
    Work in a 35-bed Med/Surg Telemetry unit within a hospital setting
    Patient population includes stroke, CHF, COPD, respiratory illnesses, diabetes, post-surgical, and behavioral health cases
    Average patient census is 22 with an RN to patient ratio of 1:5
    12-hour night shifts from 1900 to 0700, every other weekend required
    Must float to other units and facilities within the local regional system as needed and within scope of practice
    No on-call requirements for travelers
    EMR system used is Epic; prior Epic experience recommended
    Uses Phillips monitors, Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell for medication dispensing, and Masimo equipment
    Responsible for providing comprehensive nursing care to a diverse patient population including neurological and post-surgical cases
    Support staff includes CNAs, phlebotomy, respiratory therapy, and access to hospitalist and intensivist round the clock
    RNs required to interpret their own telemetry strips when floated to other units
    Departmental orientation is two days, with a total of three days for new travelers at this location
    Travelers are expected to work at least 75% of major holidays during their contract
    Up to six days of time off can be approved, excluding holidays; additional days off require extension of the contract to meet hours
    Scrub color requirement is navy
    Free parking available onsite
    First-time travelers may be considered but are not preferred

    Requirements
    Active NC or compact RN license required
    Current certifications in BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
    Minimum of 18 months Med/Surg Tele RN experience required
    Strong skillset in post-op care, orthopedic experience, TPN, PPN, chest tube management, cardiac rhythm interpretation, PIV starts, tracheostomy care, NGT placement, drain/tube management, PCA pumps, wound care, and medication gtt management including cardiac drips, heparin, and blood products
    Experience with Epic EMR preferred
    Travelers must have their permanent address at least 50 miles from the facility
    Must provide last 4 digits of SSN and full DOB for consideration
    Minimum of one professional reference from a supervisor, manager, director, or charge RN dated within the past year
    Returning employees must be separated from any prior perm role with AHSE facilities for at least one year
