Summary:
The main function of a metrology engineer is to test and debug advanced optical systems for near-to-eye display applications.
Job Responsibilities:
Develop testing and metrology capabilities for a broad range of optical parameters for imaging and non-imaging systems
Specify instruments and tools for optical measurements of components, sub-assemblies, and systems
Work with vendors for development and qualification of tools and custom test systems, including statistical analysis controls and methods
Work with other team members to create test plans for component and system validation tests for optical systems
Debug and root cause issues with fabricated components and assess viability in terms of product requirements
Deliver test system rigor through GRR, tolerance analysis, and cross correlation of measurements both internally and with external partners
Characterize optical, physical, and material properties for imaging and non-imaging systems and its components
Measures optical systems, materials, and devices and processes experimental data for further analysis
Skills:
Experience with metrology tools:

Knowledge of standard tools and methods for measurement system automation and control
High attention to detail
Knowledge of optical design tools such as Zemax, FRED or ASAP
Ability to interpret, analyze and evaluate given information relative to research.
Self motivated, persuasive, and analytical.
Excellent communication skills, verbal and written.
Experience with optical metrology
Nice-to-have skills:
Experience with advanced optical setups, such as interferometry, or illumination setups
Optical design experience
Education/Experience:
Bachelor's degree is required, master's degree is preferred
