    At AMERICAN, the IT Infrastructure Architect is responsible for designing and maintaining the organization's IT infrastructure, including computer systems, storage, network switches, network cameras, wireless networks, backup systems, and phone systems. This role requires strong skills in server virtualization technology, desktop/laptop and server operating systems, networking protocols, security practices, and experience working with third-party cloud environments. The IT Infrastructure Architect works independently and in a team environment to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to IT infrastructure, collaborate with vendors and other IT employees, and produce and maintain technical documents. The position works under the direction of the Director of Infrastructure & Operations.

    Key Responsibilities:

  • Works with internal cybersecurity team to provide protection for the corporation.
  • Recommends and installs new IT hardware and software to support required business functions.
  • Administers and works with network efforts of outside consultants, vendors, or personnel hired to do specific work, implementations, or problem determination.
  • Supports and advises the Technical Specialists in problem determination and implementations.
  • Serves as a corporate wide technical resource. This includes working with all remote personnel and subsidiaries to provide technical advice and expertise regarding infrastructure assets, gives input on proposals, specifies potential solutions and interfaces with their personnel to solve problems.
  • Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must possess a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS, Math, or an equivalent degree from an accredited four-year college or university. Proof of degree required and transcript or will be required.
  • OR have at least four years of prior full-time work experience supporting computer/network infrastructure within an information technology environment.
  • Must be available for work during off hours, subject to need.
  • Must exhibit solid knowledge of TCP/IP including DNS and DHCP.
  • Must have the ability to produce and maintain technical documentation for IT infrastructure and processes. Must have experience in troubleshooting in an IT environment.
  • Must have experience troubleshooting in an IT environment.
  • Preferred Qualifications:

  • Possess industry certification such as CNE, CNA or MCSE.
  • Two years of experience installing, monitoring, and using the network operating systems and protocols currently in use at AMERICAN.
  • Knowledge of and experience with Windows Server Operating Systems, Windows or VMware hypervisors, Unix, or PC Operating Systems.
  • Knowledge of and experience with Windows AD directory services and its components.
  • Training or experience with VOIP phone system administration.
  • Past success in planning and implementing large, complex IT projects.
  • Knowledge of current security concepts and best practice.
  • Experience with administering cloud environments especially AWS, Azure, and Microsoft 365.
  • Experience in data processing Concepts, Operations, Software and Hardware that are current standards at AMERICAN.
  • Knowledge of and experience with security concepts and components including end point protection, patch management, etc.
