    Associate Microbiologist- USP lab

    • routine analysis
    • different from Probiotics b/c in dietary supplements, they have a lot of properties or they have proprietary blends so every sample they set up, they inoculate. They utilize different types of media and dilutions to obtain that.
    • Testing for pathogens (like E.coli, Salmonella, Listeria)
    • Plating- yeast, mold, total plate count (lower dilutions)
    • Upcoming project planned for mid-march-April. Do not know volume but need some additional staff.
    • Multiple phase project (phase 1- pilot)- come mid-March
    • 30% increase in sample volume
    • Could take 1-2 months (phase 1)
    • There are 4 phases.
    • Phase 1 is smaller than the other phases. Could impact the entire year but not sure on exact volumes.
    • Until they go through phase 1, they will not know what the remaining phases will look like
    • Also have a Probiotics lab they could get trained in, in the future:
    • Associate Microbiologist- Probiotics
    • Enumerations of probiotic sample (high count methods)- accuracy is a must.
    • A lot of dilution testing
    • Spread plate methods and pour plate methods.
    • Will get into flow cytometry later on in this role.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications:

    • Bachelors degree in the Life Sciences (Microbiology, Biology, Biochemistry or etc)
    • 0-1+ years experience in a production/manufacturing or food service position
    • Ability to multi task (verify by references)
    • Someone that has a routine/repetitive experience (warehouse/assembly even basic lab) would be great
    • High attention to detail (verify through references)- precise weights need to be taken
    • PCR and ELISA testing experience is a plus
    • Ability to use a variety of styles of pipettes and micropipettes, specifically multi-channel electronic pipettes
