    Description
    TheDepartment of Public Health (DPH)is recruiting forRegistered Dietitianswho plan, develop, implement, and evaluate community nutrition programs for targeted populations. Immediate vacancies exist within theWomen, Infants, and Children (WIC) ProgramandNutrition and Wellness Services. Program placement is based upon organizational/staffing coverage needs.

    As an alternative to the traditional benefits package, you may also be eligible to elect the Modified Benefit Option (MBO) that provides an increased base rate of pay ($1.75 per hour above the base rate of pay) with modified benefits.

    CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

    Travel/Driver License:

    Incumbent may be required to travel throughout the County to work in multiple offices within a specified region, such as the High Desert (e.g., Victorville, Barstow), Low Desert (e.g., 29 Palms, Yucca Valley), and surrounding San Bernardino areas.

    Employees may be required to make provision for transportation; mileage reimbursement is available.

    At the time of hire, a valid California Class C driver license and proof of automobile liability insurance must be produced and maintained for the individual providing the transportation.


    Pre-Employment Process:

    Prior to appointment, applicants must pass a background investigation which includes verification of employment history and education, fingerprinting, physical exam, and drug screening.

    Minimum Requirements

    Registration:
    Must possess and maintain current registration with the Commission on Dietetic Registrationas aRegistered Dietitian.

    Desired Qualifications

    Applicants fluent in American Sign Language, Arabic, Korean, Mandarin, Spanish and/or Vietnamese are strongly encouraged to apply. Additional compensation is associated with positions requiring the use of bilingual skills. Testing of bilingual skills may be required to receive additional compensation.

    Candidates fluent in Spanish with experience in an clinical/outpatient setting are highly desirable.
