The City of Durham Events Project Manager assists in planning, executing, and monitoring mid-sized to large events. Key responsibilities include coordinating logistics, managing vendor relationships, tracking budgets, and maintaining timelines. They serve as a primary contact for event-related questions, troubleshoot on-site issues, and ensure the successful execution of events.
- Project Planning: Create and maintain project timelines, checklists, and event schedules.
- Logistics Coordination: Manage venue selection, transportation coordination, catering, AV setup, and on-site troubleshooting.
- Vendor Management: Source, negotiate with, and coordinate third-party vendors, speakers, and suppliers.
- Stakeholder Communication: Provide weekly updates to the internal teams.
- On-Site Supervision: Manage setup, troubleshooting, and tear-down of events to ensure a seamless experience.
- Post-Event Evaluation: Analyze event success through attendee feedback, post-event reports, and final expense reviews.
- Bachelor's degree in Event Management, Project Management, or related field.
- Three (3) years of experience in event management in government or public sector environments.
- Strong planning, execution and people management skills.
- Experience creating and maintaining project timelines.
- Vendor management experience.
- Experience supervising onsite events.
