    Under the direction of the RN or LPN, assists in the individualized care of the patient to achieve the patients highest level of wellness.

    Performs designated clinical procedures and non-clinical support tasks essential to providing care to the patient.

    • Maintains Electronic Medical Record (EMR): Gathers and records patient data (ex. vital signs) and documents in EMR. May perform point of care testing or specimen collection as determined by unit (ex. glucose monitoring).
    • Observes changes or unusual occurrences in patient condition and reports them immediately to the appropriate personnel. Communicates with other members of the healthcare team to optimize the care of the patient.
    • Demonstrates appropriate stewardship of resources, charge reconciliation process and document charges accordingly.
    • Performs clerical duties as needed (i.e., answers phones, monitors lights).
    • Follows Mercy policy and procedures related to safety, confidentiality, and patient rights/regulations.
    • Demonstrates knowledge of and practices sound infection prevention techniques.
    • Unit/Departmental Specific Policies; Participates in Quality Improvement activities that ensure and enhance quality of patient care.
    • Utilizes unit specific technology to perform daily tasks and maintain appropriate communications (ex: computer, pagers, zone phones, Rover, etc.).

    If no previous experience, Mercy will provide a required 175-hour training program that meets the state of practice Department of Health and Senior Services requirements.

    or enrolled in a healthcare career program through their high school curriculum, and/or a current co-worker of Mercy.

    Preferred Certifications:
    Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA).
