    About the College/Department:

    Job Summary/Basic Functions

    As a member of Eastern Kentucky University's Instructional Design Center (IDC), this Instructional Technologist position supports the effective blend of instructional technology with pedagogy in the course design and development process. Instructional Technologists support a variety of projects, ranging from the delivery of academic courses or specialized educational programs to faculty training and professional development for the University. The Instructional Technologist supports peers and faculty in the effective use of the LMS and instructional technology for face-to-face, hybrid, and fully online courses to help students achieve learning objectives and learning outcomes.

    The position will be responsible for supporting all faculty at Eastern Kentucky University, with the expectation of a regular on-campus presence as part of a hybrid working schedule. Specific working arrangements will need to be approved by the Director of the Instructional Design Center in line with the needs of the university.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Education: Bachelor's degree in Education, Instructional Technology, or related field.

    Master's is preferred.

    Experience: 1-2 years of experience with Instructional Technology to support teaching and learning.

    • High level of competency with LMS in an academic environment.

    • Ability to work collaboratively within an academic environment to support stakeholders at all levels.

    • Ability to adapt and adopt new procedures as situations change.

    • Ability to effectively complete other duties, as assigned.

    Job Duties:

  • 20% - Instructional Technology Support: Develop resources and provide support to faculty in the use of instructional technology for face-to-face, hybrid, and fully online courses. - (Essential)
  • 20% - Learning Management System (LMS): Provide support and troubleshooting to faculty and peers in the effective use of the LMS for face-to-face, hybrid, and fully online instruction. - (Essential)
  • 15% - Course Development: Build new and redesigned courses in the LMS, partnering with Instructional Designers and Subject Matter Experts to integrate educational assets. - (Essential)
  • 15% - Project Management: Identify, plan, and implement instructional projects in coordination with subject matter experts to develop courses in line with project timelines. - (Essential)
  • 10% - Multimedia Development: Assist faculty with the development and editing of instructional video and other multimedia to support instruction. - (Essential)
  • 10% - Professional Development: Develop and deliver professional development workshops focused on effective use of instructional technology and pedagogical strategies. - (Essential)
  • 5% - Research: Conduct literature reviews to identify evidence behind best practices in the field, staying current with trends and issues in the Instructional Design field. - (Essential)
  • 5% - Supports the office functions by completing all other duties and special projects as assigned. - (Essential)
